All good things must come to an end. May was an amazing month for me when I felt every 2-year-old horse tracker I backed would either win or place and often did. June seems to be the opposite way around at the minute and confidence is low. In my last post, I detailed my May bets and to a £1 stake I was £34 in profit, I won't reveal how much I put on just in case the Mrs actually reads one of my posts which is very unlikely, to be honest. I think everyone must go through bad spells and hopefully, lady luck will be back on my side just as quick as she deserted me.
Right here we go, Wednesdays review, this is a few lines I wrote in my last post just a few days ago about the Cool Silk Partnership horses that I would be following:
Next is Flaming Princess, this Hot Streak filly who is trained by Richard Fahey and was bought for £60,000 at the Tattersalls sales back in April and is entered to run in the same race as Moon of Love.
Because I was working early this week I checked the betting the night before and Flaming Princess was 12/1, so I thought I would leave it and check again on my break in the morning. To my surprise, she was a 33/1 shot, so I thought the market drift must mean she probably wouldn't be winning today so it was a no bet for me. I put the race on at 12.00, Ffs she was backed into 12/1 and of course, the rest is history she won well and the second-placed Al Raya looks a horse that will be winning sooner rather than later.
Am not going to lie it put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day and to make matters worse I backed my trackers Taste The Nectar and the expensive Tuk Power, not sure which was the worst, to be honest, but both finished down the field. I also mentioned a few trackers for Thursday in my last post, Dubai Station won and the other tracker I had in the same race Partridge came second. Finally, Praxeology also won at short odds but no bets for me.

15:20 Newmarket 08 Jun 2019: Ottoman Court runs for Charlie Appleby and had a Class 2 entry at York but didn’t run. This Shamardal Colt made his debut at Nottingham last month, the well-backed 4/9 favourite was slowly away and never involved. Interestingly he was given an entry for the Group 2 Railway Stakes after that debut which makes me think he will show a much-improved performance today
19:15 Lingfield 08 Jun 2019: Lexi The One made her debut in the Class 2 Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester, not fancied on her debut she dwelt and was never involved, next race at Chelmsford she got into trouble again but a recent Class 2 race entry at Chester which she didn't take up gives me hope I will see some improvement today.
19:15 Lingfield 08 Jun 2019: Ocasio Cortez had a Class 2 entry in April but didn’t run, no significant entries since.
19:00 Chepstow 08 Jun 2019: Silver Start ran in the Marygate Listed race at York but finished down the field, extra weight to burden today but must have a chance in this lower grade.
14:00 Beverley 08 Jun 2019: I can't finish without mentioning Moon Of Love for Richard Fahey and the Cool Silk Partnership, this is a tough race, to be honest, but Richard Fahey won it last year with Kodyanna. The 130,000 filly will have to be fit and ready to go, so a market check will be needed.
15:05 Goodwood 09 Jun 2019: Sir Gordon runs for the Mick Channon stable who has won this race the last 3 years, was entered for the Brocklesby but never ran.
The Saturday Trixie:
Week 2:
Aaron: Safe Voyage 3:35 Haydock - Course and distance who is 3/3 at Haydock most recently beating Mankib by 1 1/4 lengths a couple of weeks ago and should go well again.
Sam: 3:00 Haydock - Stake A Claim - Won nicely on season return. The rain is welcomed as the best form is in the mud. Will look to make all in this tricky contest and should be up to the mark.
Craig: 14:00 Beverley - Moon Of Love - for Richard Fahey and the Cool Silk Partnership, this is a tough race, to be honest, but Richard Fahey won it last year with Kodyanna. The 130,000 filly will have to be fit and ready to go, so a market check will be needed.

Even though it’s only May the trainer who’s really impressed me with his 2-year-old horses compared to recent seasons is David O Meara, yes I can talk about Archie Watson or Richard Fahey banging in the winners but looking at past seasons David’s statistics didn’t read to well, in 2017 he had only one winner out of eleven runs and 2018 was even worse with one win out of fifteen runs.2019 has seen a dramatic improvement with six wins out of fourteen runs giving him a 42.9 percent strike rate and whopping 394.6 percent win return at starting price.
Full Authority (pictured) looks a serious Kingman colt who was well-fancied on his debut at Chester and powered away to win by six-lengths, am also looking forward to seeing Great Dame, Infinite Grace and Ruby Wonder run again in the future. The future looks bright for David O’Meara and good luck to him for the rest of the season.
After a couple of winners on my trackers last week it was back down to earth with a bang this week but I still take a few positives from a couple and will keep an eye out for the next time out.
Birkenhead wasn’t a bet for me but ran his usual honest race and was placed again.
Ocasio Cortez was also a no bet after drifting to 10/1 and even though it looked a decent race she looks no world beater.
I did have a small win bet on Richard Hannon’s first time out Endowed, I took 6/1 early on and this son of Dark Angel was well-backed into 11/4 second-favourite, which was a positive move but weakened inside the final furlong. At first glance, it may seem disappointing but the fact that he was entered to run in a Class 2 also the fact he was well-supported gives me some encouragement and I will be keen to see if he’s supported again on his next run.
Ohio State was steady at 11/8 for most of the day, so was no bet for me and his run was too bad to be true and dropped away tamely, I will be interested to see the market next run.
Harpocrates drifted from 2/1 to 7/2 on the off which did worry me that he wasn't fully wound up, he did manage to finish second but was slowly away and ran green.I would imagine this son of Invincible Star will improve a lot and go onto better things down the line.
No luck with the Saturday Trixie again this week and not even a winner between us but I did manage a second with my selection Harpocrates.We need to have a good week this Saturday as it’s eating into my betting bank.

13 May 5.50 Windsor: Making History was a horse I marked down as S Bin Suroor’s first runner of the season even though he kept missing his engagements, made a favourite for his debut he wasn’t involved, no bet for me.
13 May 5.50 Windsor: Kemble had an early entry for a Class 2 race but never ran, fancied on debut and ran green, another no bet for me in what looks a difficult race.
14 May 3.00 Chepstow: Audio also had a Class 2 entry but never ran, looks disappointing after two starts and I will be watching to see if any improvement after an 81-day break.
14 May 1.50 Beverley: Richard R H B ran in the Brocklesby which normally shows the horse has some ability, I was worried when I didn’t back this tracker second-time out, and he put in a much-improved effort to finish third at 40/1, this looks a harder race and I will check the betting before I decide to bet or not.
14 May 2.20 Beverley: Exclusive from the all-conquering Archie Watson stable was entered in a Class 2 race at Chester last week but didn’t run, keen to see the market for this Kodiac filly before I decide to bet and as always it’s a gamble betting on debut runners but Archie seems to have them fit and ready from the start.

As the saying goes you wait forever for one bus then two come along, well the same can be said about my winning trackers this week when I had an alert for both Threat (pictured) and Dylan De Vega. In my last post, I wrote how Threat was entered in a Class 2 race at Ascot last week but passed the opportunity in favour of running in the four runner Class 3 Maiden Stakes at Newmarket on Sunday.
I wasn’t going to have a bet on Sunday, to be honest, as I did a 22-mile training run in preparation for my up-and-coming marathon and couldn’t walk, but all the talk on Twitter about the 1000 Guineas gave me itchy feet and I miraculously felt good enough to walk to my local bookmakers. I had my eye on two for the Guineas, both Aidan O’Brien’s, but standing to wait for the off I still couldn’t decide and in hindsight, I should have done both but kept with my original selection Just Wonderful and, of course, the other O’Brien horse Hermosa made all and won impressively.
I don’t normally back 2-year-olds in a four-runner race especially a 14/1 shot, but after missing out on a 2-year-old last week that I fancied I wasn’t letting it happen again, so I had a win bet on the Richard Hannon trained Threat, and it was back home to watch the race. My wife must have a sixth sense because she’s in and out all day, upstairs, downstairs but of course that exact minute the race is off she decides to come in and want a full-blown conversation with me, am well on to this by now and it’s yes and a shake of the head while one eye on the television, sorted.
It’s been a quiet start for the Richard Hannon 2-year-olds this season with Temple Of Heaven the only one winning out of 14 runners at 11/4, so to expect a 14/1 debut winner against the experienced Electrical Storm and the Charlie Appleby newcomer Path of Thunder and to add to the mix the Balding outsider Spanish Angel. I wasn’t that confident, but a bit of market support for the Footstepinthesands colt give me some hope.
Threat broke smartly and looked professional from the off with Tom Marquand settling him in before taking it up two furlongs out and staying on to win by just over 2-lengths.

Owners Cheveley Park Stud has a very nice colt on their hands here and looks like he could be heading to Royal Ascot, the Coventry Stakes could be the target and according to trainer Richard Hannon he will appreciate the step up to six furlongs.
It goes to show sometimes you have to take a punt whatever the price.
Other trackers Dylan De Vega was entered to run in a Class 2 at Chester this week but took what looked an easier option, a Class 5 Novice Median Auction Stakes race at Beverley. The Richard Fahey trained Poet’s Voice Colt won by 3-lengths and also looks a nice prospect. No bet for me at the price but nice to see another tracker win.
I did have another tracker Summer's Way but was a non-runner.

6.00 Ripon: Birkenhead has had a busy start to the season and finished sixth In the Brocklesby first time out, I doubt I will be back this Mick Channon-trained Colt.

6.40 Wolverhampton: Ocasio Cortez, entered in a Class 2 earlier in the season but didn’t run, I imagine will have to improve a bit to win in what looks a good field.
10th May
2.00 Ascot: Aroha For the Brian Meehan yard who was also entered for a Class 2 race but didn't run, actually ran a good race to finish fourth on debut despite running loose and also slowly away.
I will check the market before I decide if I am betting.

Play 4 to Score At Betway Novice Stakes (Plus 10) (Class3) (3YO only.
It could be a nice day on Saturday for owners John and Tanya Gunther and trainer John Gosden. Make My Day makes his debut for the successful team and I will be watching with interest to see if this son of Galileo can at least make a pleasing debut, being by Galileo I would imagine the trip and ground will suit just fine.
Owners John and Tanya have two horses with John Gosden the first being the top class Without Parole (Pictured) out of the mighty Frankel, who’s won a list of Group races in what has been a great career so far, and they also have She’s Got You who is another potentially good horse, finishing second on debut and then going on to win by seven lengths on her next start.
3.15 Fillies Novice Stakes (Class5) (3YO only)
Thanks Be for Charlie Fellows ran twice as a 2-year-old finishing 5th both times, interesting she had a Group 2 Rockfel stakes entry last season.
5.45 Doncaster: Maiden Stakes (Class 5) (2YO only)
Ocasio Cortez had a Class 2 entry the other week but runs here instead for trainer Richard Hannon and owner Mr K Sohi, worth a market check.
6.15 Maiden Stakes (Class 4) (3YO Plus)
Lyndon B runs for the George Scott stable, he had two runs as a 2-year-old and was fancied both starts, showing promise despite running green. I haven't given up on this Charm Spirit gelding as he was entered in a Listed race sometime last year.
4.35 Ripon: Novice Stakes (Class 4) (3YO only)
Sky Cross is another horse I hope starts his 3-year-old career with a win. This Cape Cross colt, trained by Mark Johnston and owned by Mr Jaber Abdullah ran twice as a 2-year-old, winning the second time of asking at 5/2 favourite but the interesting thing for me is he was entered in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes and the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes but didn't run in both.
Review:I mentioned the Gosden trained King of Comedy last week on my blog and even though he was no price to bet, he looks a horse to follow after an impressive performance at Yarmouth, staying on strongly after a ding-dong battle with the S Bin Suroor trained Land of Legends who ran a great debut race, the pair pulling 8-lengths clear from the third placed Edarrat.
The Saturday Trixie:Battle of the tipsters(well not sure we can call ourselves tipsters to be honest), It works as follows, three of us pick a selection each week and write a few lines on why we fancy it, then I will do an update each week to see who has made the most profit or who is simply the worst tipster out of us, I will also do a small stake Trixie each week.

Week 1
Craig: 4.35 Ripon - Sky Cross. As I stated above he had some nice entries last year and hopefully strengthened up over the winter, he looks a typical Mark Johnston front runner and I just hope stepping up in trip won’t be a step too far for this Cape Cross Colt.
Sam: 4:10 Sandown - Black Op. The 3rd run back over hurdles. Ran ok on the first run back over hurdles before flopping at the festival but the ease in grade and trip should suit and should go very close.
Aaron: Black Corton - 2:25 Sandown, comes into this after a string of 2nds, but won 2 Grade 1’s last season, needs to jump more fluently than he did at Kelso last time, but he’s got Bryony in the saddle who’s just back from injury, they both get on well with each other, should be thereabouts.
