As regular readers of the blog will know June was a bit hit-and miss-for me but this week things have thankfully taken a turn for the better. First was Willa who came second at 14/1, even though he was no match for the winner it was a much-improved performance. On Tuesday I backed Twice As Likely to win the 2-year-old Novice Auction Stakes at Newbury. Shane Kelly rode the perfect race to win by just over a length and 8/1 was a lot bigger than I expected. I mentioned a few trackers on social media on Wednesday, first was Today Power for Richard Hannon who I actually thought could have a chance until drifting from 9/2 to 10/1 at the off so was no bet for me. I did have a couple of quid on my other tracker Wightman who was also disappointing. 

You may or may not know but as well as getting paid for writing my blog by my friend Jason Coote (@High Class Equine) we also often chat about the day's 2-year-old races when we have time. Thursday he noted an each way treble that he fancied, so I had a little each way Trixie on them, two won and the other Flash Henry who was also my tracker got beat on the line. I still had two more trackers to go on Thursday, the first was Dark Moonlight who wasn't fancied at 33/1 so was a no bet for me. 

Fred was the other who is trained by Mark Johnston and was given a Class 2 entry at York in May (always a good sign) but did not run. Short price on his debut run (another good sign) Fred finished disappointingly last. Fast forward to Thursday when he was steadily backed from 10/1 to 5/1 at the off, the signs were good, I actually thought he got pipped on the line but as the result shows he won by a nose. ''Get in Fred you beauty.'' It is only a small fraction of the 145,000 gns he was bought for but I really hope this son of the mighty Frankel can win a few more times this season. 

I didn't notice another tracker called Go Well Spicy was running until 10 minutes before the Doncaster race she was entered in on Friday, this Mick Channon trained filly won well at 7/2. Interestingly Mick decided to run her at Donny instead of a Listed race at Newmarket on Saturday which made me feel confident of a good run. Another winner which makes my June bets look a bit healthier after a disappointing start to the month. 

Timeform Early Declaration: 

14:40 Newmarket 29 Jun 2019: King’s View was entered in a Class 2 race at Salisbury but didn't run. Huge drift on debut and finished last, market check needed.

18:15 Lingfield 29 Jun 2019: Raahy for George Scott and brings solid form to the table, should be thereabouts. 

18:15 Lingfield 29 Jun 2019: Cool Sphere ran in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, will appreciate drop in Class and another who should be in the mix. 

14:10 York 29 Jun 2019: Plymouth Rock is a newcomer for John Quinn stable, this Starspangledbanner colt was purchased by Tabor, Smith, Magnier and Shanahan for 220,000 gns in April this year. Plymouth Rock has an excellent pedigree and a market check will be needed first time out.

Note: As with most 2-year-olds I like to check the market before I bet. A quick word to any new readers to the blog, me and a couple of lads off twitter are currently making a selection each week to see who is the best and worst tipster. Aaron was the top tipster for May and it looks like it's between Aaron and me for the bragging rights for June with Sam trailing in last as usual. 

The Saturday Trixie: 

Aaron: 5:20 Curragh - Madhmoon, comes up against Broome and Anthony Van Dyck again from the Derby, where he was beaten half a length in second, all after having a slight stumble down the hill, nice smooth run and he’s the one to beat for me (5/2)(Win) 

Sam: 4:40 Curragh - Monarch of Egypt, ran well on debut over 5f on debut at Naas and Ryan Moore favours him over Fort Myers. Siskin looks a smart sort and win comfortably over C&D last time out but I favour Monarch of Egypt to improve significantly enough to cross the line in front. (13/8)(Win) 

Craig: 2:10 Windsor 29 Jun 2019: Plymouth Rock, reasons for selection above but it’s worth checking the market with this being his first run. (3/1 at time of writing, would hope for slight drift so could do an each way bet) Good luck and as always thanks for reading.
