Friday's 2yo Racing (21st July)

So many 2yo races Friday. I'll try my best to get through as many trackers as I can.

17.55 Hamilton

Tracker: Ballymount Boy

Only five runners here, my tracker Ballymount Boy, was purchased at the Breeze-up sale for 110,000 euro for Keatley Racing owners group. Made a nice enough debut at Newcastle last month when slowly away before keeping on to finish second. Pretty fancied that day and a couple of entries should see the Camacho colt improve.

Media Shooter comes with a nice pedigree for the Burke team.

No bet for me in this.

14:40 Haydock

Trackers: Cool Run, Emilshaan

Couple here, Cool Run for Edward Bethell. A 65,000 gns foal. Half-sister to Edward Bethell trained Nearby who won the Dragon Stakes in 2021, fair to say Cool Run hasn't lived up to expectations yet, starting pretty short both runs but disappointing, last run was an improvement when sixth when upped in class. Got a bit squeezed for room that day and could be more to come in what doesn't look the strongest race.

Emilshaan for Grant Tuer. A 41,000 gns purchase. Related to Sirius Prospect who was 115 rated. Sent off 100/30 on debut at Carlisle. Keen on debut and faded quickly.

Welsh Harbour comes with a cracking pedigree.

Conclusion: Bit of everything here, even Burke's sto will be in with a chance. I'll let the betting settle and might grab an each way on Cool Run hoping it's third time lucky.

Newbury 13:50

Trackers: Betties Bay, Bourgeois, Eleftheria, Gushing Gold, Raqiya.

Plenty of trackers in this. Betties Bay made a nice debut finishing second to Mapmaker who after finishing down the field at Ascot came out and won at Newbury. Bettie finished midfield in the Queen Mary and down in grade should be in the mix

Bourgeois for Richard Hannon, a 150,000 gns purchase. Dam So Hi Society finished fourth in the Lowther Stakes in 2014. Made her debut in a class 2 at Newmarket, not fancied that day at 14s. Bumped at the start but travelled well, couldn't quite match the leaders pace and just out the places, nice debut and more to come.

Eleftheria for Paul & Oliver Cole. A 60,000 euro breeze-up. Fifth of seven at Goodwood when sent off 10s, the form of that race has turned out alright, open to improvement.

Gushing Gold for Andrew Balding. A 85,000 gns purchase. Ran well in the Albany until fading

Raqiya for Owen Burrows. Newcomer worth watching in the betting.

Conclusion: I thought Bourgeoisie ran well on debut and hopefully makes progress, tough race.

Newbury 14:25

Trackers: Sir Bolton, Arkhalia Flynn, Boiling Point.

The one I'll be watching is Boiling Point for Roger Varian who is well regarded by the yard. Related to Rogers Resolute Man who made a winning debut at Yarmouth last year.

Newbury 15.00

Tracker: Bjorn Ironside

Second division and one tracker for the John & Thady Gosden. Made debut in a class 2 race at Haydock in May. Pretty decent race so no disgrace to finish sixth. Slowly away and pushed along until making ground on the inside until left behind, should come on for that run.

Times running out so I'll just mention the rest

Newmarket 17:45

Trackers: Autumn Dream, Point Of Attack.

Nottingham 14:15

Trackers: The Bitter Moose, Vandeek.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
