Thursday's 2YO Racing (22nd September)

1:15 Newmarket -

*A Dublin Lad has decent stats if 5/2 and less and very high if 6/4 and less although price to chance. Has been given a class 2 stakes entry. Garden Route has been given two class 2 stakes entries. A well bred horse. September is a decent month for debut winners. The only downside with Haggas is that he's very hit and miss on debut. In fact his stats are pretty awful. Not really a trainer to be confident about but the entries may give some hope. Expressionless ran well on debut but may have been flattered so one I would rather take on. Hugo Palmer is always interesting sto and has very good ew claims when 13/2 and less sp. His horse got a very slow start that day and ran on to some point but difficult to assess. I always worry a horse starting slowly may do the same again which would be hard work. Have good ew claims (stronger on the place) if 13/2 and less but would need to wait until near the off as outside the best betting guide would be a weakness. Sovereign Spirit would have decent stats if single figure odds. Similarly, Tenerife Sunshine has good stats if 13/2 and less sp. Not the easiest race to assess and you would need to wait until near the off to assess strength and weakness. I can't see much value with the favourites. Palmer's is the most interesting but it ran a funny race on debut and that puts me off and it needs to be in the best betting guide.

2:18 Pontefract -

Kitai looks a quality horse and has plenty of entries. Not done anything wrong in both races and could quite easily been unbeaten, If 1/4 or shorter will be very hard to stop. Al Khaweneej Spirt has a Gimcrack entry and showed pace on debut at a giant price before tiring. Dropping back in distance may help. In ways perhaps an ew bet at fair odds although if the favourite is 1/4 I really do think you will be betting for a place which isn't good news. Capital Offence looks limited.
