Saturday's Previews & Reviews (23rd April)

Quick review of my last post and bets.

First off was the Eve Johnson Houghton colt Blatant who had one run already in the Brocklesby when finishing down the field after being a touch keen. I managed to grab 3s early in the morning and was pleased to see the money come.

The favourites flip flopped as the Gay Kelleway runner who won on debut drited like a leg had fell off. Ocean Cloud with the experience was quickly out the blocks, Blatant looked more experienced himself today following behind but even with the penalty Ocean Cloud looked like never stopping as Blatant finished second, could be useful this winner. ❎

Next bet was the David Evans runner Soleil Blanc, another win bet, the confidence is shot at this point as the search for a winner continued, it was another race nothing went right, one was withdrawn then Soleil Blanc didn't want to go in the stalls, ah I was thinking of just cashing out at this stage as I knew my fate, Soleil Blanc reared up leaving the stalls and lost a few lengths so game over as she never got involved at all ❎

Now for the one we've all been waiting for Graceland's Girl who I had as a tracker last year for Tim Easterby, lots of negatives before the race, the trainers fto record, the price of course, fuck it you have to be in it to win it I thought so the night before I had a small each way at 50/1 and went to bed dreaming about the Iffraaj filly winning (actually true story).

Next morning I was watching the betting and thought I would see some support but no she drifted out, that's it I thought no chance, next I seen was 80s, then I checked again and into 33s, mmm interesting hey so I went in again, anyway before the race she went off 66s.

The race started as I watched on the bus home from work, I was still weirdly optimistic that she could grab a place. Graceland's Girl started alright to be fair, even though at the back was actually travelling well for a debutante, no signs of being keen but just relaxed, the favourite was serving it up to the field and getting a nice lead, Fentiman started to move up on Graceland's Girl taking them one by one, c'mon you beauty as she started to stay on well, next minute she was making giant strides but the line was coming, c'mon grab a place I thought, yes she moved into third and in fact I'm no jockey but an early move would have seen her win here but I was well pleased and got a few quid back in what has been a terrible month ✅

Just a few trackers tomorrow and no time to write much.

13.45 Ripon

We have a hot favourite at the time of writing, Insolente ran well on debut in a race that's turning out well. Jaxta was favourite on debut for O'Meara but faded quickly, interesting that he was favourite and needs a market check tomorrow. Two trackers I have are Kings Crown and Honour Your Dreams who came second and third last time to a nice Alice Haynes horse called Fix You. I've taken 5s each way but possible cash out of drifting, both are interesting, maybe I should have done a split stake or I might still.

17.55 Navan

Not going near this tracker to be honest I'm done with Aidan O'Brien horses, actually I would love to see Newfoundland win here but my money stays in my pocket, the 9/4 could be a great price after the race.

Early entry

19.25 Ayr April 26

Breaking Light for Karl Burke, short I imagine but well regarded last season.

Thanks for reading.

  1. Shitty luck, Craig, but almost a very happy ending.

  2. The 66/1 has actually got me nearly back on track for the month so a bit relieved in the end.
