Previews & Reviews (April 25 2022)

Quick review of Saturday's post.

As I mentioned In my last post I had two trackers in the 13.45 at Ripon and in the end I did Honour Your Dreams each way at 5s, some people may not agree that 5s is a each way bet but it works for me. The early favourite was drifting which is always a good sign and Honour Your Dreams was backed into 7/2, I watched the race on the way home in a taxi from shopping, one day I might be able to relax and watch it from my own home, of course the driver was waffling on as they always do while I'm looking at my phone thinking shut up for a minute. Honour Your Dreams broke well today, quick off the mark this time and up with the pace, going well and took it up a furlong to go, despite hanging a bit he bagged the rail, cmon my son but The Twilight Lady come out the pack and won by a short head, nothing lost so it was good to get my stake back. ✅

Newfoundland was the next tracker at Navan, a no bet because who knows what horse will turn up, a good decision as stablemate Arbutus beat Newfoundland on his debut race, say no more.

Previews.

16.30 Ayr 25 April

Ten 3yos declared here in what looks a formality for the William Haggas trained Post Impressionist after a good second at Nottingham a few weeks ago. Mark Johnston has the Golden Horn colt Dubai Leader who could be nice. I'm going to try a speculative small each way on Celestial Star for Keith Dalgleish who won this race last year with Summa Peto. It's a long shot and a half after finishing eighth last year at this course. The Ribchester filly was up with the pace going well but faded pretty quickly when the going got tough. I mean it wasn't the best run and wouldn't surprise me if she headed to handicaps this season but I'm willing to take a chance she can grab a place here, currently around 33s.

18:45 Naas 25 April

A race I won't be getting involved in but I do have the Aidan O'Brien filly Emily Dickinson as a tracker. I'm sure regular readers know by now that these O'Brien horses could be anything. Emily has had a couple of nice runs to date and I'm hopeful she will put her best foot forward today because I have the Dubawi filly as a outside bet for the Oaks, I mean I need a good performance here to be honest or the slip goes well and truly in the bin. A few nice types in this race including the other O'Brien runner Champagne, currently around 6/4 for Emily Dickinson.

19.25 Ayr April 26

Breaking Light for the Karl Burke team runs here after finishing second over this course and distance last August, the Dabirsim filly was unfancied on debut but still managed a decent run. Well regarded by Karl Burke last year so interested to see how this 182,000 euro purchase gets on here against the likely favourite Espresso. A possible bet if I can get an each way price which is probably a bit optimistic of me.

Thanks for reading.
