Review & Preview (28th March)

Wow what a Saturday that was, I thought it had a bit of everything to be honest, big priced winners, smart 2yos and me winning a few quid for a change. The excitement has been coming out of every pore in my body this week, why? The flat was finally coming, I do say excitement but I think it could have been covid because last week I was locked away for a whole week going around the bend because of the dreaded thing. It was so boring I had time to write post after post as you may have noticed, I think if I would have found a camel race I would have even written about that!

Saturday came and the price of the Richard Hannon trained Persian Force was short for the first race of the new season, I had a feeling if Persian Force went short in the market he could be useful and so it proved as the King Power Racing owned colt looked a different class to the rest of the Brocklesby field when sprinting clear the final furlong to win in a canter. This fella could be Royal Ascot material after an impressive debut performance. My usual free bet went down the pan on Blatant who was on and off the bridle most of the way. Just to note my free bet365 bets don't get added to my normal bets that I have been noting down on twitter, win or lose.

It was the card over in Ireland that I was interested in. The first race was the 2yo race I previewed in my post. I didn't have a bet but was interested to see how Midnight Toker got on, I thought he had it at one stage but Ocean Quest by first season sire Sioux Nation had different ideas and came with a late rattle to make it a three way battle to the line and prevailing by head.

One thing I'm doing this season is putting my head on the chopping block by revealing my bets on here or social media before they race. All my bets can be seen on Twitter or if you are reading this on a laptop my twitter feed comes up on the right hand side. I'm only saying this because I was accused of after timing recently on social media by someone who hadn't even looked at my profile and looked at past posts on the platform where I mentioned the horse that won, it did piss me off to be honest because I put so much into building my blog up and to get accused of shit like that makes me wonder why I do it.

Bets: March 26th: I had three trackers going in the 15.06 at Curragh on Saturday and even though I liked the look of the Aidan O'Brien runner Ivy League I wasn't convinced Saturday was the day, it proved to be the case as he stayed on but never got close to the first two. The one I was interested in was MALEX for trainer M Callaghan. I had the Kodiac colt who is owned by Amo Racing down as being with Ralph Beckett, I was puzzled thinking was this even the right horse but was still convinced it was so looked at the early betting, couldn't believe it as I saw bet 365 offering 16/1, I needed to get on fast and did, in fact when I saw it was being supported on other sites I went in again, the price dropped down to around 8s and stayed steady, can't say I was overconfident of Malex winning with the well regarded Boundless Ocean but I was a bit more confident he could grab a place. Malex started well and looked professional cantering along just behind the leaders, I was watching every move as Boundless Ocean went for home a couple of furlongs to go, jockey Leigh Roche on Malex started to get to work and slowly but surely the Kodiac colt was making up ground, the line was coming, Malex was staying on, one more stride and thrust, fucking get in Malex just about won, what a horse, what a jockey and what win yessssss that keeps the betting bank ticking over nicely you little beauty. A 16/1 each way means March has been a decent month with an 11/2 winner, 9/1 winner and now 16/1. As I said all my personal bets go on my Twitter page win or lose ✅

A couple of trackers go on Tuesday. I will decide on the day if they are a bet or not.

18.30 Wolverhampton

I could be pushing my luck with my speculative 3yo bets after the last two won. The one I think I might take a chance on is the Archie Watson trained Storm Dancer after running in a decent little maiden last July at Newmarket, being off the track 264 days doesn't inspire me with confidence. That race wasn't bad you know with eight of the twelve runners all winning. I have watched the race a few times and the 40,000 gns El Kabier filly was beaten quite far to be honest but was slowly away before catching up with the pace then dropping back pretty rapidly. Hopefully Storm Dancer is fit and well here and knows more about her job for owners Hambleton Racing. Another worry is Hollie Doyle on the other Archie Watson horse Wheresthebarbil.

17.40 Navan

I have a couple of trackers in this but will make this quick. The form of Paris Lights last run looks decent enough for the Jessica Harrington Siyouni colt to be involved at the finish here. Paris Lights still looks like he can improve and looked far from the finished article when beaten into third by his less fancied stablemate Dark Vega at Curragh last time out. The second was Boundless Ocean who finished second to Malex of course on Saturday. This looks a decent little race and if I can get an each way price I might have a go on the day. The other runner is the Jim Bolger runner Wexford Native who makes his debut. All bets will be posted on twitter before the race time or my Facebook group.

Bet: 1pt each way 11/2 5th
