Saturday's 2yo Info (16th October)

Friday was another one of those days when you think you're doing the right thing but in the end it’s the wrong decision. I did back Hooked On You the night before at 12s anticipating a gamble but when it didn’t come I pressed the cash out button only to see the Karl Burke trained filly stay on to finish third at 11/1. My other two trackers were disappointing but I made the right decision not to bet on them both in the end. Macchiavello is definitely better than today showing signs of greenness and Divine Jewel proved inexperienced.

Right, tomorrow is a new day and I still have to believe one tracker will come good at least.

Ten go to post here and the favourite Bint Elmalek looks a nice Kingman filly for Charlie Hills after finishing third on debut. Easy to back that day when sent off 11/1 and ran a nice enough debut. My one tracker in this race is the Simon and Ed Crisford trained PHILOSOPHY. The Exceed And Excel filly was sent off favourite for her debut at Kempton 101 days ago, I expect connections were disappointed as Philosophy finished down the field in eighth place. The lay-off could mean Philosophy had some type of problem or just needed time. She was slowly away and caught for pace until making steady progress towards the finish. She has been fitted with a hood and tongue strap so I hope this will keep her mind on the job. Around 11/2 at the time of writing. I've had a small each way hoping Philosophy won’t drift as that would be a negative for me.

My Irish trackers have been a bit hit and miss this season, well in fact most of my trackers have to be honest, but you have to believe you will turn a corner if you keep working hard. I do have a few in this, PURPLE DAWN, IMPERO, DOWNING STREET and NINJA who looks a nice Galileo colt for the all conquering Aidan O’Brien team. I have to say you never know how an Aidan 2-year-old will run, especially first timeout. Ninja was another who was easy to back on debut when sent off 17/2. The Galileo colt was towards the back for most of the race but slowly made up ground. Granted, Ninja never troubled the leaders but to me it looked like he was given an easy time towards the finish and had more left in the tank. Aidan does like this colt and hopefully he can be a bit more competitive here. Impero has a list of fancy entries and should no more today. Ninja opened up around 3s but is shortening up as I write this.

James Ferguson's VIADELMORE is a good-looking son of Invincible Spirit who hasn't show much in two starts to date but may be capable of better and worth a small each way bet at 40/1. There may be some value at those speculative odds.

Thanks for reading and hopefully I can get a much needed win to gain more confidence going into the latter part of the season.
