Friday's 2yo Racing Info (15th October)

Sixth Street was pretty disappointing to say the least on Wednesday when only managing fourth, I did have a small win bet. I did mention a few more trackers in my last post and to be honest they all ran pretty well. Clear Day ran well enough to finish third to what looks a nice Dubawi Roger Varian colt despite running green. As I mentioned I did have a small speculative each way on the Richard Hannon trained Kodias Sangarius who put in a much improved performance after being pulled up in both outings before. Last but not least was the Richard Hannon trained newcomer WINDSEEKER who took a drift in the market out to 16/1. The Aclaim colt broke well and was up with the pace throughout and one point I thought Windseeker could win, now I might be talking sour grapes here but Windseeker had the rail and was staying on until the eventual winner Qitaal cut across. I don’t think he would have won but could have got closer, anyway it was a decent debut all the same.

I have a few trackers going today, a couple who I imagine will be short but I will mention them anyway.

Not a race I will be betting in but interested to see how the Roger Varian trained Frankel filly DIVINE JEWEL gets on after finishing second on her debut. Purchased for 300,000gns at the 2020 October Yearling Sales out of book 1 and owned by Mr Koji Maeda. Divine Jewel made her debut at Nottingham just over two weeks ago, she was easy to back that day and sent off a 9/2 shot, kept towards the back by David Egan and behind a wall of horses she was given an impossible task but still managed to grab second staying on late but the winner had first run on her. Looking forward to seeing if Divine Jewel can improve on that decent first run, around 6/4 at the time of writing.

Another short one here but MACCHIAVELLO comes here with a bit of a reputation. The Karl Burke trained No Nay Never colt is a £300,000gns 2-year-old and owned by Amo Racing & Michael Tabor. Not much to go on here and a no bet for me but I am interested to see what the hype is about. Karl has a decent record with debutants priced under 9/2 and with Macchiavello currently 6/4 the signs are good but not worth the risk first timeout for me.

A second timeout Karl Burke runner here so what can go wrong? HOOKED ON YOU is another who does have a nice reputation at Spigot Lodge. I was looking forward to the Starspangledbanners debut at Newcastle just over two weeks ago but she refused to settle and pulled away her chances early on. It’s hard to know what to think after that but the drop in trip should help and I will also be keeping a close eye on the betting, anything over 7s I would say is a negative. Mother Shipton is another who has a good chance if under 13/2 but I’m hoping I can have a each way on Hooked On You if the price is right.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
