Tuesday's 2YO Racing Tips (19th October)

Quick recap on Saturday’s selections. I had an each way bet on the Simon and Ed Crisford trained Philosophy at Catterick on Saturday and despite managing third I did hope she would be to good for this field, as for the Aidan O’Brien trained Ninja who finished last of eleven I don’t really know what to say as it was a very disappointing run. VIADELMORE finally confirmed why James Ferguson rates this son of Invincible Spirit after below par efforts in his first two races. I backed Viadelmore 40s the night before as I was surprised how big he was. I even checked not long before the race and saw 66/1, anyway as I watched I thought Viadelmore was going well but the Appleby was going better and won well. I was happy as Viadelmore finished second and surprised when I saw his starting price 18/1. It’s about time one tracker came good to be honest after a dreadful spell lately when nothings gone right.

According to the early betting this is a two horse race. The early favourite Whoputfiftyinyou won on debut last month at Haydock Park and looks a nice type for trainer Clive Cox, if my tracker disappoints the Twilight Son colt could easily defy the winners penalty here and win again. My tracker ANTIPHON who is short in the market himself despite not being seen for 189 days. I’m not sure why the good looking Kodiac colt has been off the track but that is a worry to be honest. Antiphon is trained by Andrew Balding and is a half brother to another Balding horse called Firelight who won second time of asking here at Kempton back in 2018. Antiphon made his debut in the novice stakes race at Newmarket back in April and was sent off a 9/2 shot that day. Looking back at the debut that was an excellent run and despite not getting a clear run Antiphon put in an eye-catching debut against a few nice types including having a couple of Group winners behind him. I really hope Antiphon puts in a decent display here.

Trackers: David Simcock 2-year-old CROMARTY has had a couple of chances and disappointed.

NEW YEAR HONOURS is interesting for Ralph Beckett who could improve after finishing sixth on debut at Nottingham.

Roger Varian’s 2-year-old’s have been in fine form of late and I hope tracker AL HUSN can keep the ball rolling here despite finishing seventh on her debut at Newmarket last month. The Dubawi filly attracted support on her debut when backed in from 6s to 7/2. Al Husn was towards the back at the early stages and looked a bit awkward when meeting the dip, I’m pretty sure Al Husn had more left in the tank that day and we haven’t seen the best of the Roger Varian 2-year-old and I will be hoping for an early each way price here.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
