Friday's Racing Tips (8th October)

A quick look at my last post. Newcomer Hooked On You looked to be going well at one point when tanking along in front but soon faded to finish out of the places. I won’t give up just yet on the Karl Burke trained filly. As for another newcomer I thought Three Diamonds ran a decent race for the David Simcock team. The Night Of Thunder colt was slowly away before staying on well towards the end. That’s the problem backing these first timeout 2-year-olds you just never know how things will pan out on debut. One to keep in the trackers. I don’t normally back short priced favourites but had a few quid on MR ALAN who proved too good at Ayr.

Newmarket seems to be a nightmare for me, probably because so many nice horses turn up. I have to admit I missed the price on this next tracker which is unusual for me, hopefully she may drift out again. Trainer George Boughey has had an excellent season with his 2-year-olds and with his Saffron House Stables a stones throw away from Newmarket it’s no surprise to see him do well here. Already this season Forca Brasil and Cachet have both won here. FIORINA has already had one run but caught the eye at Kempton. The Showcasing filly was purchased for 140,000 gns at the October Sales from book 1. Easy to back on debut when going off a 16/1 shot and showing signs of inexperience when slow out the stalls before finding her feet just over a furlong out and powering up the inside rail to finish a never nearer seventh. I have had Fiorina as a tracker for a while as George does rate her but I would have been happy to see her turn up in an easier race than one with debut newcomers from top yards. Opened up at 10s with bet 365 and into 4s at the time of writing. I’ve had a little each way at 5s and hope with Murphy in the saddle Fiorina can improve for that debut run, if over 10s would be a negative for me. I do have one other tracker SALITEH for Richard Hannon who steps up in trip here after a couple of decent efforts. Not one to be wrote off by any means and added to the mix is plenty of nice newcomers. Definitely not a race to go mad on.

A newcomer to note in this one. We have a hot favourite here in the name of PERIPATETIC who will take all the beating after a nice debut for Roger Varian. I will be watching closely to see how the David Simcock runner CHING SHIH shapes up on date. The Lope De Vega runs in the familiar colours of owner Miss K Rausing. A tough place to start but one to watch who will improve for the run and is well-thought by David. A tough day tomorrow but good luck and thanks for reading.
