2:45 Lingfield Racing Tips (28th June)

2:45 Lingfield -

A tricky looking race over 5f. A big old field. I would have a short list here rather than a selection. Cotai Beauty ran well enough on debut in a fair race. James Tate has been a little below par this season. This bay filly was pretty hard ridden on debut and beaten a few lengths. The winner, Sows, is a decent winner and the placed horses have proven a level of form. Cotai Beauty has been given a Class 2 entry which may suggest there is more to come. This is probably no more than an average race but this filly is there with a chance and should be in there about.

*Mehmentum is a lovely-looking colt who was well backed on debut and perhaps a little disappointing although finishing third. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Kevin Philippart De Foy's horse improve. Not without a chance.

Sidcot Swallet ran well on debut at 50/1 and looked to hold claims on his second start. However, I think William Carson was sitting in a rocket ship to the moon and pressed the after burner which meant Michael Attwater's had no chance of finishing the race which was frustrating for his backers. Interesting to see the apprentice is onboard. This son of Showcasing could go well at a price but needs to bounce back.

*Freyabella ran no race second start with Robert Eddery and was sent to Jayne Chapple-Hyam and ran at Royal Ascot and had little hope to win at odds of 250/1. Difficult to know what to expect. I couldn't bet on this horse as it looks inconsistent.

Richard Spencer can pop up with the odd debutante winner and his two-year-old have good place claims at just about any price.Lucky Man cost £70,000 and a well bred horse. The stable can go well.

Alice Haynes had a nice winner the other day with a debutante she owns [Philly Eagles]. Josies Kid is a nice looking colt and ran in a very good race on debut at Salisbury. He was always slightly on the back foot after a slow start and given a few cracks of the whip in the last furlong or so to try and make headway, which he did to a point. This should be a weaker race and if drifting to big odds could hold each-way claims.

Lucky Shake has been there about on a couple of starts but looks a bit keen and doesn't finish her races and I wouldn't be betting on Crisford's horse.

Conclusion: To be fair this looks a tricky race if not hard work. There are a few horses that have disappointed and hoping to show more today which makes assessment difficult. Mehmentun and Sidcot Swallet fit this mold. I think Cotai Beauty will run a race and have each-way claims. Lucky Man cost a few quid and hails from a stable that do well on debut. If you are looking for a big price horse with some hope then Josies Kid may been there at the finish.
