Kingman 2yo's To Follow (2021)

As always I like to see if I can find a few nice 2-year-olds to look out for the up and coming flat season. I will be updating trainers and horse names when I can.

KINGMAX Kingman (GB) / Baino Hope (FR)

Purchased at the September 2020 Orby Sales for £120,000 and trained by Roger Varian. Bainoi Hope didn’t set foot on the racecourse till three and was trained by Jean-Claude Rouget in what was an impressive career winning the Group 2 Shadwell Prix De Pomone in her penultimate race in France. Nice pedigree hopefully this Kingman bay colt can make a name for himself this season.

AKHU NAJLA KIngman (GB) / Galicuix (GB)

Purchased at the October Yearling Sales for 2,700,000 gns. The Kingman colt is another trained by Roger Varian and comes from a lovely family with plenty of winners. Galileo Gold trained by Hugo Palmer being the most notable who had an amazing career winning the Vintage Stakes at two and then going on to win the 2000 Guineas in 2016. Roger Varian also has 3-year-old Dubawi Sands by mare Galicuix who was never involved on debut and one to keep an eye out for this season.

ASSESSMENT Kingman (GB) / Clinical (GB)

Half-brother to Lockheed who was trained by William Haggas and won his maiden at Goodwood then went on to finish third in the Acomb Stakes and the Vincent O’Brien Stakes. As a three-year-old Lockheed finished second in the German 2000 Guineas before moving to Hong Kong. This Sir Michael Stoute trained Kingman colt is also a full-brother Clinician also trained by Sir Michael Stoute. Dam Clinical was a nice type for Sir Mark Prescott winning the Princess Elizabeth Stakes back in 2012.

SUPER CHIEF KIngman (GB) / Eastern Belle (GB)

Dam Eastern Belle was a lovely type for trainer John Gosden. Eastern Belle won a Listed race at Newbury back in 2014 before going on to race in America at a decent level. Super Chief is a full-brother to another nice John Gosden colt called Megallan who won on debut at Newmarket last August and not disgracing himself in better company, another who should be followed this season. Trainer unknown at the minute but possibly with Gosden or William Haggas.

MATOURY Kingman (GB) / Sinnamary (IRE)

Dam Sinnamary was lightly raced in France winning on debut before placing a few times in what was a short but decent enough career for trainer Mikel Delzangles. One nice offspring she has produced is the John Gosden trained Golden Rules who didn’t make the racecourse till three and won at Chelmsford last October and one to follow.

KINGDOM COME - Kingman (GB) / Monami (GER)

Purchased for 340,000 Guineas. Dam Monami had a decent career in Germany for owner Gestut Etzean winning a couple of nice prizes and group races back in 2011/12 including the Group 2 Diana-Trial Rennen Mit Super-Dreierwette for 32,000 euros. Monami has produced a nice offspring already by Sea The Stars called Miss Yoda for trainer John Gosden who won her debut in style then went on to finish second in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes before going on to win the German Oaks last year.

QUEEN OF COMEDY Kingman (GB) / Stage Presence (IRE)

A full-sister to the John Gosden trained King Of Comedy who came second in the St James’s Palace Stakes in 2019 when just failing to catch Circus Maximus in what was a great performance. Dam Stage Presence has produced many nice offspring over the years including King Of Comedy, Star Of Seville and Star Of Bengal all trained by Gosden. The Kingman bay filly could be a nice one for the second half of the season.

KING OF YORK Kingman (GB) / Archangel Gabriel (USA)

Purchased at the October Yearling Sales for 350,000 gns and trained Kevin Ryan. Dam Archangel Gabriel was unraced for trainer Roger Charlton but was a sister to Prince Arch who was a decent sort for trainer Kenneth McPeek in America. Archangel Gabriel has two offspring to date and both look nice types for Karl Burke and Sir Michael Stoute. The Karl Burke trained Angel Of The Glen won first timeout at Thirsk as 3-year-old and the Michael Stoute 2-year-old Ville De Grace also won first timeout at Kempton this time. Hopefully the Kevin Ryan trained Kingman colt can make it another winner for Archangel Gabriel's offspring. Thanks for reading and stay safe.
