1: CHING SHIH:

Trainer David Simcock.

''Had only two runs as 2yr old winning on her final start on heavy going which being by Lope De Vega ground will be the key to her this season. A filly bred to excel as a 3yr old by Lope De Vega (IRE) - Madame Chiang.''  CL

2: HISTORY:

Trainer Aidan O’Brien.

''Very expensive purchase as a yearling at €2.8000.000. Ran three times at two winning on her final start. Trainer has her highly entered this coming flat season in the Irish 1000 Guineas and Juddmonte Irish Oaks. Being by Galileo (IRE) - Prize Exhibit, you would expect her to excel when she steps up to 12f.'' CL

3: GET AHEAD:

Trainer Clive Cox.

''This could be a very nice filly who could be anything. By Showcasing - Suelita is a full sister to the smart Mill Reef winner Alkumait, the trainer does well with sprinters and this could be one of his top sprinters this season. Was thrown in a G2 race at Ascot for her second run of the season and was only beaten just over 5 lengths. Sprinting is definitely her game.'' CL

4: KHANJAR:

Trainer William Haggas.

''Had sore shins early on in the season which pushed him back hence he did not appear until July then ran three times within a space of two months. Winning on his final appearance. He is by Kodiac so I think sprinting is his game. He has a big long raking stride on him. Could do well in sprint handicaps and for Shadwell Stud not to send him to the sales like a lot of their horses last season, I think he can win a couple of decent races.'' CL

5: NAWRAS:

Trainer Marcus Tregoning.

''Never ran last season so could well be a dark horse to follow. He was 16hh at 2 and was still growing which could be the main reason we did not see him on the track. He has a beautiful pedigree. Sea The Stars (IRE) - Umniyah (IRE) (Shamardal (USA)) so middle distance could well be his trip. He could well be a nice horse.'' CL

6: NOBEL:

Trainer Andrew Balding.

''Had one run last season on the AW and that was in December winning by an easy 3 lengths. Another by Lope De Vega so I think again ground will be key to this horse. He is a gorgeous looking horse with plenty of quality. I can see 7f to a mile being his trip.'' CL

7: SOUL STOPPER:

Trainer Andrew Balding.

''A colt by Postponed (IRE) - Perfect Spirit so time will be the key to this horse as you would think being by Postponed. Ran three times last season and was learning all the time winning his final race. A fine big horse and middle distance will be his project for this coming season. He looks to have plenty of quality.'' CL

8: TARATARI:

Trainer Eve Johnson Houghton

''Only ran once last season and finished runner up in November. This horse is a fine big horse and you can see why he only ran once. He must just have had growing spells. He is by Caravaggio who was also a big strapping horse. He looks to be a lovely individual and could be one of the good ones this coming season for Eve Johnson Houghton.'' CL

9: TRANQUIL LADY:

Trainer Joseph O’Brien.

''This filly looks to be a Oaks filly in the making by Australia - Repose (USA) the reports from the stable have been all positive for this horse and could do very well this season.'' CL

10: TUESDAY:

Trainer Aidan O’Brien.

''Galileo (IRE) - Lillie Langtry. Full sister to seven times at G1 level and including Guineas and Oaks winner Minding. She had just one run last season finishing second to the smart Discoveries. Then was put away for the season. She has class written all over her. Again she is well entered up for the coming season and I can see her competing at the top level.'' CL

Thursday's Two-Year-Old (2yo) Racing Update (26th August)

At first glance, my trackers in my last post, looked pretty disappointing. However, I’m hoping a few who finished down the field will improve for their second start and even better price.

The first tracker was Sense Of Duty who obliged at odds of 2/9.

Let’s move on.

I had two trackers in the first at Salisbury. Firstly, Dark Swansong who opened up around 7/2 the night before. It left me with a dilemma as I wanted an each way price. Before I made my mind up he'd been supported into 11/4. In the end, the Clive Cox colt went off at 15/8. No bet for me. Dark Swansong ran a decent race finishing second to Hierarchy, who made it tow out of two wins and looks a nice type.

My second tracker in this race was the Roger Varian trained Leuven Power who took a walk in the market. I was pretty sure today wouldn’t be the day. I will watch the betting next start. Leuven Power was slowly away and never involved. Perhaps one not to give up on just yet.

Another worth remembering is the John Gosden trained Delphinus who looked to be finding her feet late on.

16:50 Tipperary (IRE) 26 Aug 2021

A couple of interesting trackers in this one as the O’Brien’s take each other on with potentially two nice fillies. Aidan runs the Galileo filly History who cost a cool 2,800,000 gns at the October Sales. History made her debut at the beginning of the month and made a good impression finishing second to Cairde Go Deo who looks a nice type herself. History is sure to come on plenty here but I will take a shot at the Joseph O’Brien filly Awesome Wonder if I can get an each way price, been supported from 13/2 into 5s at the time of writing. Awesome Wonder cost 140,000 euros at the Orby Sales and also made a nice debut when staying on fifth at Naas at the start of the month. It’s definitely not just between these two with other smart newcomers entering the mix.

14:40 Carlisle 26 Aug 2021

A Bryan Smart newcomer to note is Emperor Caradoc. Often, newcomers are sometimes worth watching on debut.

14:00 Ffos Las 26 Aug 2021

Two trackers again here and one is the odds on favourite for trainer Richard Hughes. Ring Of Beara ran a cracker at Goodwood last month when finishing second to Imperial Fighter at Goodwood, that looks decent form so any improvement should see the Wootton Bassett colt involved at the finish. My next tracker actually ran in the same race and will have to take a giant step forward here. The Mick Channon trained Bazalgette needs to improve but I will chance a very small speculative each way at 25s and hope he can sneak a place.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
