Weekend Selections: Craig's Betting Blog (8th July)

It's been a pleasure the past months working with the Inittowinit team but the time has come to give these guys a break and stop hounding them for weekend selections, set of great lads and I wish you the best for the future. Equinefutures, prohorseracing and racingtictac all worth a follow on social media and I apologise as I couldn't find a single winner ha.

Feeling lucky this week after what's been not a bad few days for me. I've been adding a few fancies on my twitter page, first up was Angel Of England at at Thirsk in what looked an awful race, the crazy Bet 365 men dangled 9/1 at me, cmon 9/1, so I was quick to get on, actually got backed into 2/1. I thought I'd struck gold when Angel went on in the last furlong only for the favourite to stick her head out, gutted!

Also backed Serenity Dream at Kempton 4s who won odds on. Next up was Lady Nunthorpe for Brian Smart, early show 33s, yes speculative each way for me, come race time 9/1. Not being critical of the jockey but he decided not to wait for a gap then pulled out around beaten horses, I think she definitely lost a few lengths and finished third, I'll take it.

14:15 Beverley LIKLEMAN (EW) 12/1 4th

Famous last words but doesn't look the strongest race. Expert Choice is a tracker who could win easily here but no value for me at the price, I love taking a gamble so I've done a small each way on the Charlie Johnston colt Likleman. His debut run wasn't pretty, head carriage everywhere and faded quickly, the Footstepsinthesand colt is a half-brother to the George Boughey gelding Kay Kay who is a decent performer. It's a gamble but at 12s I'm hoping he can settle better and grab a place.

14:50 Beverley WHOGOESTHERE (EW) 11/1 3rd

I'd say I'm playing for a place here but hoping the favourite can have an off day. Lady Pink Rose ran a stormer in the Queen Mary finishing seventh, being hard to beat. Whogoesthere is a 30,000 euro purchase for trainer Declan Carroll. Dam Backstreet Girl was disappointing but related to a few decent types. Pretty short on debut at Hamilton last month when backed from 11/2 to 9/2. Apprentice Zak Wheatley started nicely on Whogoesthere and up with the pace just behind the leaders, Sankari got first run and my selection stayed on without threatening, the form looks decent with the second winning so hopefully Whogoesthere can give me a run for my money.

Alfa Whiteburd is another tracker who returns to calmer waters here after finishing down the field in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot.

Red Zone Hero should be in the mix after finishing fifth on debut at Windsor, related to a couple of nice types and not one to overlook.

Only small stakes this weekend, better weeks to come.

Thanks for reading and good luck, check out my twitter or the new Instagram app for my fancies.
