Wednesday's 2yo Update (11th October)

1:10 Nottingham -

Like A Tiger was a shortish price on debut and just denied. Looks a fair type and short odds today. Respected but little value. Fox Journey looks an out and out galloper. Didn't seem to be going anywhere until the closing stages of the race but finished with vim giving the impression this step up in distance will benefit. Sir Michael Stoute has very good stats second time out when fancied although very few win over 5/1. I can see this colt running a race. Sea Master has run two solid races. Survival is another representative for Stoute. Didn't show a great deal on debut but stepping up in trip which could see improvement. I would see how the betting goes here. If weak I would suspect Fox Journey would be the pick. Not too much value at the top of the market but Fox Journey may have sound ew claims if prices allow. But I'd be very careful if a marked drifter in the betting.

1:45 Nottingham -

King Of Steel cost a lot of money and has fair stats or David Loughnane and Amo Racing. Sir Michael Stoute's Nader King wasn't overly fancied on debut and should appreciate this step up in trip. With Stoute having three horses in these two divisions you have to be careful not to get the potential weak link. The betting should tell the story and would need to be pretty strong in the betting to give added confidence. Ralph Beckett has done very well this season with many debut winners. Alshadhian holds some hope and would be a high stat horse if 11/4 and less sp. Respected whatever the odds. Hughie Morrison isn't known for debut winners but October is a very good month for the stable two-year-olds and Mr Boson may have claims especially if priced 7/1 and less sp. Twoforthegutter was backed when a non runner and interesting to see how this horse goes.

2:20 Nottingham -

Ashtanga looks a good type and showed a decent fair level of ability and may well improve. No real value. Shazam hails from a stable that has been in great form although fancied debutantes can be hit and miss. Andrew Rosen is a significant owner and may go well today. Dubai Crystal has fair stats if 13/2 and less sp. A well bred juvenile with a group entry and class 2 stakes to add to hope. Definitely needed the run on debut when off the pace and had little hope of catching Obelix who cruised to a facile win. I suspect this colt will go better today although if seriously weak in the betting would bring concerns. Khinjani was relatively fancied on debut but looked all at sea at Beverley when struggling to cope with the turning course. Would have high stats if 13/2 and less sp. Ciara Storm did little on debut for the Meade stable and may have claims especially if backed. Doesn't look the easiest race to assess. The betting nearer the off may help detail strength and weakness.

2:40 Wolverhampton -

A banded race. Looks quite competitive. No great opinion at this time.

3:15 Wolverhampton -

A competitive race and not much value at the top of the market.

5:30 Kempton -

Moralisa showed ability on debut although well beaten by a classy horse. Ismail Mohammed has done well this year with a few winners and sto has fair stats although nothing out of the ordinary. Berkshire Cruz is a well bred juvenile being a full brother to Margot Did who was a very talented horse. Balding can go well on debut but also can be very hit and miss, especially when short odds. Clive Cox fields Due Date who would have high stats if 11/4 and less sp. May have claims at bigger odds although not the best month for debut winners.
