Thursday's 2yo Racing Tips (20th October)

Four races today so back to normal. 

12:50 Southwell - 

Miss Dolly Rocker ran well on debut and looks a tough nut to crack but no value. Perdika won well enough last time and has a penalty. Steps up a furlong. Again, doesn't look much value going on. Powdering was held up off the pace on debut but ran a respectable race. A good looking filly who may well improve if starting on terms. Has decent stats if 13/2 and less sp. To add to what looks a competitive heat Break The Spell showed ability on debut and can't be ignored. To be fair for a banded race these are a fair-looking bunch. The one horse that may have a chance is De Foy's Emirates Voice who was fancied on debut and ran well until tiring in the closing stages. The final result looked slightly disappointing but this daughter of Brazen Beau has been given a couple of significant entries which may bring further hope. Improvement is needed and added to this being a tough race it does make me question if it is possible. The tongue tie has been applied and a big price. There may be more to come but a hit and hope in the face of a stiff competition. If betting, I would go with a straight win as this will be all or nothing. In truth, a race I would probably watch. 

3:40 Southwell - 

A sprint over 5f. The two favourites have had at least three starts which gives concern. Turbo Tiger has been sold and now in new ownership and with Anthony Brittain. A speedy type. Respected. Megan Moon hails from owners Opulence Thoroughbreds who have their share of two-year-old winners. This is a very good month for Varian debut winners and has claims if 9/1 and less sp, ideally shorter. Not a race I would be betting. 

5:45 Wolverhampton - 

A band D race. Tomahawk King was made favourite last time out when disappointing. A tardy start and sitting off the pace didn't help at all and then traffic problems didn't make punter's days. You have to wonder if a stiffer test would help but I imagine Franny Norton will be sitting more handy today and a horse that should run a race. I would have slight concerns if starting slowly. Watching race. 

6:45 Wolverhampton - 

A band D race. Cool Party won a big odds on last time out and returns with a penalty. No real value at the odds. Dragonball Prince drops significantly in grade after being relatively fancied in a class 2 stakes. Looks the type to run a big race.
