Monday's 2yo Update (5th September)

2:05 Brighton -

Jive King looks a straight forward horse and will run a race but no price. Inspirited bumped into a decent horse at Brighton last time and has a hope but again no real price. The Yodeller has been backed and Muir can win on debut although he almost seems better at bigger odds. Channon's Estrella Icon doesn't have much hope unless 10/1 and less sp. Funny looking race and no great opinion. I would need to wait until just before the off to have a better idea.

6:00 Newcastle -

Sigmund ran well in the Convivial at York and De Foy seems to know his stuff and any entry looks significant. No price but you'd expect it to go well. It was about 2/1 and backed. Ivan Furtado is a difficult trainer to assess. He doesn't have many debut winners, two or three at most. He can go ok and doesn't have too many horses at shortish odds. I would have to take a watching brief on Wamalama. The betting on the others will help tell the story. I'd imagine De Foy's is the class horse of the race and the one to beat but no real value.
