Saturday's 2yo Thoughts (9th July)

A number of two-year-old races today.

I'll give a quick review of the best chances.

1:30 Newmarket -

A few well-bred debutantes and a couple of Frankel's to add to the fun. I'd let the betting settle but a watching race for me.

1:50 Ascot -

An open looking race. Berkshire Phantom ran a fair race on debut at Salisbury which looked a fair contest. Balding's charge was slow away and wasn't given a hard race and looks sure to improve for that experience and distance. I think we will see a better performance from this son of Expert Eye who has sound each way claims.

2:33 Chester -

Stunt Game is a lovely-looking colt, not the biggest but compact and a very balanced runner. No real value at short odds but I'd be surprised if this son of Dandy Man doesn't prevail for Gow Equine Ltd.

3:15 Newmarket -

The Superlative Stakes (Group 2). A great race to watch.

6:00 Hamilton -

A confusing looking race with a mix of experienced juveniles and those with one start under their belt. No strong opinion here but an interesting race to watch.

6:15 Salisbury -

Marbaan is a class act and heads here with a win penalty no doubt a race to test the next step to pattern class. Stepping up in distance, he has We Could Be Heros to contend with, but I'd expect a victory here.
