Betting: Should I Get Angry When I Have a Losing Bet?

If you like to gamble you can guarantee you've felt a mix of emotions.

Winner: Happy. Excited. Blissful.

Loser: Confused. Sad. Angry. Depressed.

Emotions can be difficult at the best of times but for every gambler they can be hard work. When that last element of logic disappears into a sea of red mist it might be time to call it a day.

Let's face it, we've all had good and bad days at the office.

A big-priced winner and you don't even need to wear those rose-tinted glasses. You hear birds singing in the trees and you just have that lovely fuzzy feeling that Frankel gets when he hears about the string of mares heading his way.

You get the idea.

But should you keep your emotions in check? That poker face doesn't flinch even when you're crying inside?

Does it do you any good to hold it all inside or should you throw your TV out of the hotel window and rip the door off its hinges?

I don't think you should go too crazy because you may add to your problems, cost you a bundle of cash and have the law asking a few questions.

But who doesn't feel a bit peed off when you have a string of losers?

It's natural, hey!

You just can't help but feel a bit annoyed by a loser.

For me, feeling irritated by a loss isn't all bad. You don't want to be taking out your annoyance on family and friends but you may wish to use that irritation to investigate what happened or why your bet lost. Can you use this to help motivate you to improve your situation and change those losers into winners?

It's worth keeping a horse racing diary to detail your bets and thoughts and write positive actions to improve your lot.

If you have serious concerns about your emotional response to losing then you should question your betting and stop.
