10 Karl Burke 2yos to Follow in 2020

Karl Burke is one of those supremely talented horse trainers who it pays to follow. Spigot Lodge, Coverham, Leyburn, North Yorkshire, has been the starting place for a number of specimen thoroughbreds. With 1300+ winners, including 12 Group 1 winners, 7 Group 2, 12 Group 3 and 20 Listed race successes. No wonder since 2016 he has achieved over £1M in annual prize winnings. He has a bumper crop of two-year-olds and much to look forward to this season.

1) Bambule by Dabirsim ex Bleu Nil a French-race mare that cost 35.000 euros. This strong filly Should be ready to run June/July. She has shown ability.

2) Mister B by Dandy Man ex Days Of Summer a winning mare that cost £48,000 at he yearling sale (Goffs) in the ownership of Ontoawinner 14 & Mrs. Elaine Burke.  A well-grown colt with a great temperament. He is very mature and will be ready to run as soon as racing resumes.

3) Stylish Performer son of Dandy Man ex Va Pensiero who is a twice-winning mare £18,000 at the yearling sales. Typical 2-year-old type, not that big, but a sharp early type who has shown some speed.

4) Celestial Queen  filly sired by Dark Angel ex Agnes Stewart (won on debut and May Hill Stakes Group 2) and cost 200,000 gns at the yearling sales (Tattersalls). This well-bred filly, out of a G1 winner is a strong 2-year-old type, she will probably want a bit of cut in the ground.

5) Wizard D'Amour a son of Dutch Art out of an unraced mare, Holistic. Cost 200,000 gns as a yearling, this good looking, good moving colt has a bit of class. He is a big colt and I do not expect to see him on a racecourse towards the end of the year and will make a lovely 3-year-old.

6) Inhaler is a son of Elzaam out of the thrice-winning mare Desire. This £32,000 yearling purchase is a sharp early 2-year-old had racing been taking place then I am sure this fellow would have made his mark already. Hopefully, he will be out soon after resumption.

7) Sound Of Dubai is a son of Estidhkaar out of a three-time winning mare called Low Cut Affair. A strong colt has just started to show some ability on the gallops and I think he will be a nice colt for the second half of the season.

8) Red Right Sand son of Footstepsinthesand ex Artistice. Another colt for later in the year, but this good looking colt looks like he has plenty of ability. He is a nervy colt that we will take our time with.

9) Intrusive is a son of Fountain Of Youth out of a winning mare, Intrusion in the ownership Bearstone Stud Limited. This homebred colt who has plenty of scope, he looks like a colt who will make his mark in the second half of the season.

10) Tipperary Tiger son of Mayson is out of a winning mare, Tipperary Boutique. Typical of his sire, we have had some really good Mayson's and I expect this colt to make up into a nice type in the second half of the year.

Take a look at these Spigot Lodge two-year-olds going through their paces upsides.
