Royal Ascot 2021.
For most owners and trainers those winners are elusive. In ways, Nick Bradley Racing exemplify the story of successful racehorse ownership.
We've seen a host of two-year-olds make their appearance this year for horse trainers many and varied. Each syndicate as excited as the next. It's going to be a good year. By Lord, we all need it to be a good one.
The sound of galloping horses. A cheering crowd. Let me close my eyes for a moment and dream.
Take a deep breath...
Exhale as a nation if not a united world.
I'm sure as Nick Bradley travels to the races he listens to that 1984 classic hit by Sade - Smooth Operator.
The lyrics ''Diamond Life'' shine - emboldened - in my mind.
Royal Ascot has been a flying success for Nick and the team.
What a start to proceedings.
Two-year-old horse racing is our bag and it's overflowing with success. Racing silks for everyone topped with a star. What more do we need to say. Leading the way in racehorse ownership and investment.
The latter word isn't synonymous with many chancing their luck within this racing game.
Without question, there will be success.
Eldrickjones nearly hit the jackpot when runner up in the Coventry Stakes Group 2 at odds of 66/1, in the capable hands of trainer Roger Fell, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
Don't you wish you had purchased a share in this son of Cotai Glory out of a winning mare? An inspired breeze-up purchase from Goffs for the paltry sum of £26,000. Some people wait a lifetime for a gifted horse, these lucky souls almost had a Coventry winner in under two months.

I'm sure the blood was pumping a little faster and the drink going down the hatch like lubrication of a well-oil machine.
The Queen Mary Stakes Group 2 beckoned. Mas Poder, who made her debut in no less than the Marygated Stakes (listed race) over 5f at York for trainer Kevin Ryan, ridden by Kevin Stott, was ready to show even more power. This daughter of Mehmas finished fourth, an ''eyecatcher'' losing by two-lengths at odds of 22/1.
A sweet bay filly, a £42,000 breeze-up purchase from Goffs purchased by Hillen & Ryan.
Potential blue bloods at bargain basement prices.
Mas Poder didn't have her day at Royal Ascot, finishing a disappointing last in the Queen Mary Stakes.
She will bounce back.
Soon.

Wednesday 16th June. The sun was shining brightly in an Ascot sky. The pimms had extra sparkle.
I couldn't believe what I was seeing!
Nick Bradley must have been contemplating the Windsor Castle Stakes (listed race) with the zeal of my old gran, of Mexican descent, who loves to chew on a Chipotle pepper as she contemplates her next move when playing chess.
What's this Mr. Bradley in a pincer movement with one of my favourite trainers Karl Burke. They stopped the clock, reminiscing over the moves of Bobby Fischer's Ruy Lopez opening like it was 1971.
I can't, again, believe my eyes.
There's me waiting for Kaboo to turn up at Carlisle on some heady evening and here he is starting at Royal Ascot. No wonder he is sired by More Than Ready. Not only this but he's been backed as if defeat is out of the question.
You don't question King Midas about anything made of gold.
Kaboo ran like a demon. I'm sure he only drifted left towards the finish because he saw my old gran throw a Chipotle pepper on the course in an attempt to trigger his turbo-charge only to see it quickly gobbled up by some beast trained by Eve Johnson Houghton.
No wonder I love to write about the Brocklesby Stakes, waiting for the future to be unveiled.
Kaboo finished a brilliant sixth, beaten just over three lengths.
Not only that, Guilded, who ran a remarkable race when runner-up at Beverley's Hilary Needler Trophy Fillies' Stakes, was vying for the lead when tiring in the closing hundred yards for a creditable eighth place.

Thursday 18th June.
Ladies' Day - The sky is expelling water, but Hellomydarlin.
What a day.
Oscula, trained by George Boughey and ridden by Mark Crehan, had been in fantastic form after bumping into a horse named Sandrine on debut at Kempton. Two wins later, this daughter of Galileo Gold, out of a once-raced mare, took her chance in the Albany Stakes Group 3. This 4000 guinea yearling purchase was fancied to go well at odds of 10/1 and so she did. Making her own way up the near side rail she ran on in sterling fashion to finish third behind old adversary Sandrine who won in some style.
Hellomydarlin, who had made a winning debut at Goodwood, was disappointing after losing her position in the early stages of the race.

Even in these heavy conditions it would have been great to conclude Royal Ascot's Chesham Stakes (Listed race) with another Nick Bradley Racing superstar.
However, something tells me one, two or three of these talented two-year-olds will be winning at Group class before the season ends.
Excellent work by all.

Trainers' Talk 2-year-olds - Karl Burke
Friday, 5 February 2021
Friday: Gioia Cieca Looking for Victory (5th February)
5:45 Newcastle -
Keith Dalgleish has a good relationship with owners Weldspec Glasgow Limited and Gioia Cieca has a good profile to taste success at Newcastle (5:45).
This bay colt, a son of Kitten's Joy, out of an unraced mare, cost $55,000 at the yearling sales.
This February foal ran well on debut at Newcastle over 1m when finishing a creditable sixth place back in December when a 25/1 shot, beaten five lengths by Oz Legend. He was backed from 66/1 (tchd 80/1), so there was some hope.
He ran a fair race, giving the impression of improvement on his second start and this drop back to 7f is likely to see a horse primed for the day.
Gioia Cieca travelled well on debut but was a touch unorganised in the closing two furlongs and dropped back. To be fair, they looked like they were trying pretty hard and I imagine connections thought they would have gone closer. It was a decent race and today's contest is a weaker.
The statistics for this colt suggest it will go well. There has been money for this three-year-old who touched 3/1 on debut and I think he could well be 6/4 by the off.
There isn't much meat on the bone so unless drifting out I would rather watch than bet.
6:45 Newcastle -
Interested to see how Seeking Perfection goes in this race.Once again, the stats suggest a big run although with such a small field there is chance the betting may be manipulated. We will see.

1:40 Southwell Racing Info (28th January)
May as well take a quick look at this race - thinking aloud.
Eight three-year-olds take part. A couple of winners shouldering penalties.
I recently conducted a study to assess winners with the burden of a few extra pound because in my mind it was a big negative. It proves the point, if you have a question in mind an hour or two of work can help find the answer. It's time well spent.
As it happens, these penaltised horses, when priced 13/2 and less SP, run very well.
A good number start at short odds. I was pleasantly surprised how well they go and many win again.
The two horse I'm referring to are Whittle Le Woods, trained by Michael Dods, in the familiar silks of David Armstrong and Cahors, trained by Anthony Carson, who is a capable trainer who deserves a few more horses in his stable. This daughter of Lethal Force won well at odds of 22/1, and by all accounts was fancied to go well.
To be honest, I'm looking at Karl Burke's Bright Apparition who is available at odds of 10/1, and bigger on the exchanges.
I some respects I'm still making up my mind about this bay gelding, a son of Charm Spirit. He's out of a twice-winning mare, who won at Listed class on her second outing and far from disgraced when racing at Pattern class on her next three starts (a couple in France) before being retired as a brood mare.
Bright Apparition has been fancied on both starts. He was seriously backed last time out at Newcastle when racing over 7f.
I had a bet on him that day at big odds, half fancying my chances. I wasn't amused.
Anyway, Bright Apparition was far from a winner, as he looked a touch keen before dropping back to finish last.
I wasn't over joyed.
He had decent stats that day so I was hopeful. The question is whether the beast will be revived by a spell on the sidelines and dropping back to six furlongs.
It would help if he settles.
It's one of those horses and bets.
The only angle I can see with this type of horse is to get big odds and hope he's well backed to lay off as a no-lose bet. That's only possible if you bet on the exchanges.
If it wasn't for the fact this gelding is a decent price I wouldn't really think too much about it.
It wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see it go well but it wouldn't be such a traumatic experience to see him disappoint and pop up next time with a nice handicap mark.
The jury is out.
Interesting.

10 Karl Burke 2yos to Follow in 2020
1) Bambule by Dabirsim ex Bleu Nil a French-race mare that cost 35.000 euros. This strong filly Should be ready to run June/July. She has shown ability.
2) Mister B by Dandy Man ex Days Of Summer a winning mare that cost £48,000 at he yearling sale (Goffs) in the ownership of Ontoawinner 14 & Mrs. Elaine Burke. A well-grown colt with a great temperament. He is very mature and will be ready to run as soon as racing resumes.
3) Stylish Performer son of Dandy Man ex Va Pensiero who is a twice-winning mare £18,000 at the yearling sales. Typical 2-year-old type, not that big, but a sharp early type who has shown some speed.
4) Celestial Queen filly sired by Dark Angel ex Agnes Stewart (won on debut and May Hill Stakes Group 2) and cost 200,000 gns at the yearling sales (Tattersalls). This well-bred filly, out of a G1 winner is a strong 2-year-old type, she will probably want a bit of cut in the ground.
5) Wizard D'Amour a son of Dutch Art out of an unraced mare, Holistic. Cost 200,000 gns as a yearling, this good looking, good moving colt has a bit of class. He is a big colt and I do not expect to see him on a racecourse towards the end of the year and will make a lovely 3-year-old.
6) Inhaler is a son of Elzaam out of the thrice-winning mare Desire. This £32,000 yearling purchase is a sharp early 2-year-old had racing been taking place then I am sure this fellow would have made his mark already. Hopefully, he will be out soon after resumption.
7) Sound Of Dubai is a son of Estidhkaar out of a three-time winning mare called Low Cut Affair. A strong colt has just started to show some ability on the gallops and I think he will be a nice colt for the second half of the season.
8) Red Right Sand son of Footstepsinthesand ex Artistice. Another colt for later in the year, but this good looking colt looks like he has plenty of ability. He is a nervy colt that we will take our time with.
9) Intrusive is a son of Fountain Of Youth out of a winning mare, Intrusion in the ownership Bearstone Stud Limited. This homebred colt who has plenty of scope, he looks like a colt who will make his mark in the second half of the season.
10) Tipperary Tiger son of Mayson is out of a winning mare, Tipperary Boutique. Typical of his sire, we have had some really good Mayson's and I expect this colt to make up into a nice type in the second half of the year.
Take a look at these Spigot Lodge two-year-olds going through their paces upsides.

Karl Burke: Do You Love Me (Phoenix Thoroughbred Limited)
Rayong was another success for Karl Burke and the King Power Racing team after winning on debut at Carlisle in May. The Mayson bay colt then went on to finish third in the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown behind Liberty Beach. Rayong finished the season with an official rating of 97 and despite finishing out the places in some decent races Rayong should be winning again next season.
The filly Living In The Past brought Karl Burke and Clipper Logistics Group success this year. The Bungle Inthejungle filly won the second timeout at Beverley before going on to finish third in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes at Ascot. Better was to come as Living In The Past was sent off 12/1 and given a positive ride by jockey Daniel Tudhope in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York. Living In The Past made all and went on to beat Liberty Beach by just under a length. Even though unplaced in the Breeders Cup Juvenile race that was a great season and should be in the winner's enclosure again next season.
I was expecting to see another Karl Burke 2-year-old this season but I imagine she has had a few issues or just needs strengthening up before making her debut. The horse in question is DO YOU LOVE ME. The lovely bred Galileo filly was purchased for an incredible 3.2 million at the Goffs sales by owners Phoenix Thoroughbred Limited and has a big reputation at Spigot Lodge. I have been waiting for a good while for this bay filly to run after she was given a few significant entries this year but it's looking more likely she won't be seen till next year as the 2-year-old races wind down.
Karl Burke gave an update on her back in July saying she was still a bit backward but she’s a lovely filly. Do You Love Me has been given early entries for the Irish 1000 Guineas and also the Irish Oaks which is interesting?
After another busy year for Karl Burke and his team, it looks like he will be reducing the number of horses next year which sounds like a good move to me, and he can now concentrate on quality over quantity and hopefully, the 2-year-old horses will still be a money-spinner for me.
Thanks for reading and look out for my next horse to follow coming soon.

Can Emaraty Be The Hero For Karl Burke (Plus Reviews And Previews)
A good few 2-year-old races tomorrow so hopefully, I can at least get a run for my money on one.
13:55 Newmarket 23 Oct 2019.
Emaraty Hero is well-thought-of by trainer Karl Burke. I am confident this 55,000 gns Lope De Vega colt has ability. Karl Burke gave Emaraty Hero two significant early entries in the shape of the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes and Saturdays Group 1 Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes but takes this option. He looked pretty professional on debut when smartly away and knew his job from the off. It was a promising debut despite finishing third he had two nice horses in front of him. Tsar and Glenties both look nice types for the future. Emaraty Hero looks to have the size and scope to improve and will hopefully strip fitter tomorrow and go one better than Newcastle.
Another worth mentioning is the John Gosden newcomer King Leonidas who former jockey Alan Rutter gave me as his John Gosden horse to follow. He too had an entry on Saturdays Group 1 race but doesn't run. To add to that we have the Richard Hannon newcomer Mafia Power plus a few other potentially nice types. A race not to go mad on but hopefully Emaraty Hero will drift to an each-way price.
18:40 Kempton 23 Oct 2019
Sorrel looks likely to go off favourite here and rightly so after an eye-catching debut over this CD last month. The form of that race looks decent and Sorrel was well-supported before the off when backed down from 6s to 7/2. Sorrel should know more this time out and will hopefully get her head in front today.
15:05 Newmarket 23 Oct 2019
Despite starting off a big price for debut (33/1) Grain Of Sense made a pretty promising debut despite being ridden for most of it. The Ralph Beckett trained Teofilo colt ran on past beaten horses and looks to need every inch of this one-mile two-furlong race. Princess Bride looks a danger after getting blocked off when making her run at Leicester the last timeout.
19:00 Chelmsford City 24 Oct 2019
I am not sure I will be betting on Farnham here but I am intrigued to see how this bay 3-year-old filly runs. Roger Varian gave her a host of significant entries as a 2-year-old, but she didn't run all season. Farnham made her debut in April this year at Newbury. The Farhh filly was sent off 13/8 favourite and despite finishing fifth I thought she could have won and was given an easy introduction. I was expecting to see her back out not long after but here we are in October and it’s only her second run of her career. It’s a guessing game whether she still has the ability she had as a 2-year-old but I for one can’t wait to see her run again.
Good luck and thanks for reading.

Tuesday's Racing Tips (22nd October)
Taking a look at Tuesday's two-year-old racing action.
1:40 Yarmouth -
Testing going. Not my favourite medium to find winners. A 0-75 nursery over 6f 3y. From a significant entry point of view, a couple of these may be of interest. George Scott's Dragon Command has won a couple of races and a determined horse. A winner at Claiming class last time out. Difficult to assess whether this 7f on soft ground will be too much of a test of stamina.
Karl Burke's two-year-olds have been in fine form. Seven Emirates has always been held in some regard by connections but been disappointing. Has taken time to appreciate what racing is all about and a little weak in ways. The first try at nursery class may show more today.
Personally, I would take a watching brief.
2:15 Yarmouth -
Once again a Burke runner catches the eye. From a statistical point of view Made For All has decent claims. Ideally, this filly would be much better bet if drifting in the market.
It is worth watching the betting as this may be revealing for few of these - helping pinpoint potential improvers or weak links. Lady Tati didn't show a great deal on debut but if fancied in the betting may well have each-way claims. If very weak in the market best watched.
Lady Light cost a packet at the yearling sales fetching 850,000 euros and in the ownership of China Horse Club International Limited. Unless seriously fancied in the betting, I find Michael Bell's debutant are more likely to be placed than win.
I would definitely let the betting settle before placing a bet.
2:35 Newcastle -
Another tough-looking race. From a significant entry and betting point of view, I would be looking at Grand Bizarre and Carlos Felix. I am pretty confident both will run well. The latter, trained by David Simcock, could well be a worthy each-way option to the favourite if prices allow.
2:50 Yarmouth -
Nine fillies take part over this mile.
Another trappy-looking affair with a selection of leading trainers and high-profile owners. Once again, I would let the betting settle down before considering what may happen here. The market may help disregard a couple of lesser lights.
The betting suggests it is out of six horses.
Too Big To Fail looks the type to enjoy a test of stamina and has valuable experience after making her debut at Nottingham. Mark Johnston's filly ran on well that day in what looked a fairly competitive race. I can see her going well. However, there may be some opposition.
John Gosden unveils a daughter of Frankel, a homebred in the ownership of A E Oppenheimer. Frankly Darling should be respected as her trainer does well at this course, especially if short in the betting. Has fair each-way claims if prices allow.
Combine has been given a Class 2 stakes entry for Hugo Palmer. The betting should tell the story for this horse's chance.
Similarly, David Simcock has Float racing in the familiar silks of Qatar Racing Limited.
Cabaletta is well owned and trained.
This looks a difficult race to assess at the time of writing and even when the betting settles it may well be worth taking a watching brief.
Best bets on the day:
2:15 Yarmouth - Made For All
2:35 Newcastle - Carlos Felix (only if drifting to each-way odds)

Trust in Karl Burke (Plus Reviews, Previews and Tips)
Bet Review:
With two trackers in the same race on Wednesday I had to make a decision and especially since I was putting my bet on the night before, as always it's a gamble not being able to see any market movers and at the minute I am playing a dangerous game, I am sure my good fortune must be coming to an end soon. The Mark Johnson trained Frankel colt Fred was too short for me, so I took the gamble and done the Karl Burke-trained Dandy Man colt Lord of the Lodge who had been given a couple of Class 2 entries but didn't run in both.
Lord of the Lodge opened up at 9/2 (I took 8/1 the night before) and was 4/1 on the off, which added to my confidence and as with Rayong Ben Curtis gave him a great ride and stayed on to win by just under 2-lengths and give me my fourth 2-year-old winner in a row. I have mentioned before the market is crucial and if Lord of the Lodge had drifted in the betting then I would only have myself to blame. I won’t be giving up on Fred just yet even though he finished last and will be checking the market on his next run.
Looking through the cards on Saturday there is not much jumping out at me, to be honest, I like the midweek smaller meetings when you can often find a little gem to bet on. As a racing fan I would have loved to have gone to my local racecourse Haydock on Saturday to see the talented Calyx, but as you must be aware by now it’s marathon day Sunday so, I will have my feet up resting and hopefully the father-n-law can get a few nice pictures for me as he’s off to Haydock on a jolly boys outing.
Timeform Early Declaration Alert
16:15 York 25 May 2019: War Storm had an entry for the Class 2 race at Chester today but is running here instead.
15:10 Goodwood 25 May 2019: Silent Wave had an entry for a Class 2 race at Ascot on May 1st but didn’t run.
16:05 Chester 25 May 2019: Endowed had a couple of early entries, first was the Class 2 race at Ascot in May and second was today's race at Chester.
The Saturday Trixie:
Week five and things are getting desperate as I still haven't had a winner, Aaron is storming clear with three wins out of four selections and Sam still can’t get one to stay on its feet.
Aaron: El Astronaute 3.45 York: Front runner who won 2 big field handicaps last season at this track, also finished 2nd in this race last year.
Craig: War Storm 4.15 York: It was a close call between Endowed at Chester and my selection War Storm. This Archie Watson trained Due Diligence Colt ran a pleasing debut at Wolverhampton finishing third of eleven behind the Godolphin pair, backed in that day from 6/1 to 9/2 shows he was expected to run a nice race. I would like to see some support tomorrow and hopefully, he can get his head in front, the danger looks to be Dutch Decoy.
Sam:5:00 Cartmel - Canyon City - been keeping good company and Bryony Frost remains in the saddle to keep the partnership after their latest victory, making the partnership 3/4. The long trip might stretch him a bit but won a tad cosily last time and every chance they will make it 2 on the bounce. Thanks for reading and good luck for the weekend.

Brilliant Rayong Keeps the Purple Patch Going
Bet Reviews:
In Saturday's post I mentioned a few trackers I had running, well, in fact, three in the same race which is always a dilemma, so the one that stood out was Misty Grey who Mark Johnston had given an early entry in the Class 2 Lily Agnes race at Chester but didn't run him. I looked back at his last race, he was up with the pace until tiring and eased down. An early morning price of 14/1 did not fill me with confidence and also no sign of a market move, so I just trusted my instinct and put my each way bet on. I also done a win bet on Oso Rapido for the O’Meara yard who’s juveniles have been running well this season.
To be honest, Misty Grey had the race won two furlongs out when leading from start to finish to win by an impressive 7-lengths. I will also be looking out for Oso Rapido who was well-backed and ran a race full of promise.
On to Monday and I mentioned three horses on my Twitter feed that I liked the look of, first up was a horse called Rayong for one of my favourite trainers and jockey combinations, this is what I wrote on one of my profitable courses for flat jockeys post way back in March (When I think of Ben Curtis I always think of Carlisle racecourse so it’s no surprise to see it’s a profitable racecourse for him, so over the past three years in maiden and novice races only, see him have 31 rides and winning 14 with an impressive 45.2 percent win strike rate and an even more impressive 341.6 per cent win return at starting price, look out for Ben Curtis riding for trainer Karl Burke).
I put my bet on Rayong the night before and took 7/2 which he actually ended up after opening up at 9/2. This Mayson colt is owned by the powerful King Power Racing team who have transformed racing of late by buying lots of quality horses. Watching the race, Rayong looked professional from the off, broke well and tanked along before Ben Curtis took it up a furlong out before staying on well, he looks a nice recruit to the Karl Burke yard and should come on a lot after a great debut.
Next up was Mark Johnston trained Rose of Kildare at Redcar who ran in a Class 2 race at Chester and brought some good form to the table, she won easy enough at 6/5 and another winner in the bag. Last up was a tracker from last year, the Clive Cox-trained Eligible who had a Group 2 Champagne Stakes entry as a 2-year-old but never ran. I noticed he had been gelded and took a gamble and done a each way bet at 20/1 and was pleasantly surprised to see him backed into 8/1. I think he ran a great race to finish a close third and looking like he could win at one stage, I will keep an eye on him for next time.
The One That Got Away
I caused a bit of a stir on social media a couple of weeks back when my post about the brilliant Aidan O’Brien stringing us along, and to be honest, I had a good chat with a few people who thought the headline was unfair, and I was told he doesn't have second or third strings, I take that on board but looking at the stats I said I would follow his less-fancied 2-year-old horses in Group races, well I bloody missed one as I didn’t even check the Irish racing on Sunday and surprise surprise Etoile the less fancied of the O’Brien pair won at 12/1, gutted as it would have been a great start.
Timeform Early Declaration Alert
2.00 Ayr 22 May 2019: Fred had an early entry for a Class 2 race at York but never ran.
2.00 Ayr 22 May 2019: Lord Of The Lodge had two early Class 2 entries, one at York and one at Chester.
Thanks for reading and good luck.

2-year-old Trainer Comments (Horse Racing)
I may bet later in the season.
These two-year-olds are the first few to go in the trackers this season.
March Update:
Karl Burke update on War of Clans:
“This son of Ivawood is very forward as we thought he was, so we have cracked on with him, he will be one of my first 2-year-old runners of the season. This colt has a race pencilled in for Musselburgh in early April, and he is being readied for that. He works well at home with some class, he is showing plenty and should be winning races for the next few seasons as he is not just a 2-year-old. I couldn’t be happier with him and I think he is another cracking addition to the successful string we have had over the years and am very much looking forward to seeing him hit the track”.
Karl Burke on Ladyley’s Beluga:
“She has done incredibly well in the last month and has gone from being a filly who didn’t show us too much on the gallops to one that has been scorching them. She’s done some very nice gallops and has moved up to the top of the pecking order based on her recent work. I’m sure we will see some more improvement and I think she is very capable of winning races at 2. She is a typical Showcasing and just gets on with the job and wants to please”.
Brian Smart on Chocoholic:
“I am absolutely delighted with this colt, he really wants to impress and does impress in his work. He has been working with older horses and has stayed with them and is very tough, he shows that will to win you need even at home on the gallops. Don’t hesitate to ask Ontowinner to visit our yard to see him work yourself and I am sure you would be as impressed as I am with him. I see him as a late April runner at this stage, but he is scopey and should grow into a lovely 3-year-old too. I am very happy with this colt, he has a great mind and shows plenty to show he is good enough to win a maiden. Please don’t hesitate to ask to come and see him, he looks a picture”.
Looks like Ontoawinner has a few nice 2-year-olds this season and I will be adding this to my other information to try to get a few winners this season. Keep an eye out for my next 2-year-old trainer comments.

Karl Burke Horse Trainer Profile Series
He's been training horses since 1991 but first started out riding on the flat before switching to the jumps, winning 50 races out of 750 before then turning his talents to training both flat and jump horses.
His very first winner as a trainer was with a horse called Temporale who won a 2-mile handicap hurdle at Towcester.
More success followed on the flat with the ultra game Daring Destiny winner of the Ayr Gold cup followed by Group 2 and 3 wins.
Karl moved stables in 1998 to Haven stables in Newmarket before moving again to his present stables Spigot Lodge in North Yorkshire were he continued to become one of the top trainers with high profile horses such as: Unfortunately, a Cheveley park owned horse, to date has won a Group 1,2 and 3, the highlight being the Group 1 Prix Morny in France in August 2017.
Laurens (pictured) a punters favourite has also brought Karl more success winning an amazing seven of her 11 races with Group success all over Europe and plenty of prize money for owner Mr John Dance.
Quiet Reflection another multiple Group 1 winner gave Karl his first Royal Ascot winner taking the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup for owners Ontoawinner, Strecker and Burke.
Lord Shanakill was a winner of a Group 1 in France and the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes.
Libertarian winning the Dante at York made it the first Yorkshire trained Dante winner in over 70 years back in 2013 and also coming second in the Epsom Derby made it an unforgettable year.
Time to get onto making some money, as I keep saying trainers love banging in winners at certain tracks and I have unearthed a nice profitable course over the past 3 years that Karl likes to send his 2-year-old horses. Carlisle is one of Karl’s favourite tracks and he has a profitable strike rate, so if you followed his 2-year-olds over the last 3 years in maiden or novice races only, it would have given you 12 wins from 31 bets, that’s a 38,7 percent win strike rate and a 256.7 win per cent at starting price with all but one (Riviere Argentine 22/1) winning at 9/1 and under.
Little Kim being the highlight for me last season as Group Horse gave it a great write up and she won going away at a generous price of 17/2 for stable jockey Ben Curtis before running at a decent level and contesting Group races.
Ellthea being another nice type to win at Carlisle, this time second time out winner at 9/4 with Graham lee riding before going on to win a Group 3 in Ireland and holding her own in some decent races and earning a high of 109 rating back in 2017.
So we have another profitable trainer at certain tracks so be sure to keep checking your racing calendar to see when Carlisle is on. Good luck all and I will be back with another trainer profile soon.
