Which ''Group Class'' Filly is Running in a Novice Race Thursday at Great Yarmouth? (Plus Previews)

Mrs Gallagher trained by William JarvisAs you probably know I love to have a good look through the race cards to see if I can find any interesting stats with owners and trainers. I know it doesn't always go to plan and sometimes the horses are just useless but this tracker came through, so I decided to dig a bit deeper.

16:45 Yarmouth 25 Jul 2019:

Lady Bowthorpe for the William Jarvis yard. At first glance, her debut run last season looks a pretty professional run apart from being slowly away she soon caught up but then couldn't match the pace of the talented William Haggas runner Hidden Message. I guess if you don't look at Group Horse you wouldn't know that she was entered in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket as a 2-year-old. A little more digging reveals in 2017 William Jarvis only had one horse entered in Group races and it was the 99 rated Mrs Gallagher who won a Listed race on her reappearance as a 3-year-old at Bath. It gets better, the owner of Mrs Gallagher is Ms E L Banks and you guessed it Ms E L Banks also owns Lady Bowthorpe. Get your mortgage on this cert now!!! Only kidding but it will be interesting to see how she runs after over 300 days off the track. Also, interesting that Jamie Spencer rides this Nathaniel filly as he doesn't often ride for William Jarvis, in fact from 2016-2019 he has only ridden nine times and won twice. Fang and Slow To Hand who both won at Yarmouth. It doesn't look the strongest race and it's a shame only six go to post. The betting guide will give some clues on how she will run on her reappearance, even if she runs terrible I will always enjoy trying to unearth a winner or two.

13:45 Sandown 25 Jul 2019:

No Show: 110,000 euros yearling form the Richard Hannon yard. Entry in Class 2 at Ascot on Friday but runs here instead.

13:45 Sandown 25 Jul 2019:

Jack Ruby: £55,000 yearling also from the Richard Hannon yard and was also entered for the Ascot race on Friday.

18:15 Doncaster 25 Jul 2019:

Shevchenko Park: 35,000 euro purchase for the Tom Dascombe yard. Weakened quickly in a Class 2 Chester race in May, been gelded since and worth a market check.

18:15 Doncaster 25 Jul 2019:

Sky Vega: 600,000 euro purchase for the Richard Hannon yard. Nice Pedigree and another who was entered in the Class 2 Ascot race on Friday but takes this option instead.

18:00 Newbury 25 Jul 2019:

Striding Edge: Mark Johnston homebred colt who ran a fair race when finishing sixth to Aussie Showstopper in what looked like a nice Kempton Novice Stakes race. Should know more this time and could be an each-way bet at the right price.

19:35 Newbury 25 Jul 2019:

Fast And Free: 75,000 gns filly for the William Haggas stable. Made her debut in a Class 2 race at Newmarket. Another who needs a market check after a disappointing debut.

Note: The debutantes I will more than likely just watch. Striding Edge could be a bet if the price allows and Fast And Free needs some support after her debut for me to be interested.

Thanks for reading and good luck.

  1. It will be interesting to see how she goes. I'm pretty sure I was at Great Yarmouth that day.
