Day 5 Royal Ascot Trixie 2019

Reviews:

Fourth selection and fourth loser for me when LAST SURPRISE was outclassed and even the magical Frankie Dettori couldn’t work his magic on her. I did shortlist the winner Daahyeh and also So Wonderful in yesterday's post but made the wrong decision again, it's been one of those weeks that I will be hoping to forget about soon as possible. Aaron’s selection FUJAIRA PRINCE ran a great race and was staying on all the way to the line to take third place. Sam’s selection MAGNETIC CHARM also ran a great race and got pipped on the line by 33/1 shot Thanks Be.

I had a couple of trackers on Friday that I didn't bet on but one winner that was impressive was King's Command at Newmarket who won at odds of 2/1 and could be a horse to look out for.

14:30 Ascot 22 Jun 2019 Chesham Stakes

Craig: Aidan O’Brien has won this race three times in the past ten years and what a great Royal Ascot it's been so far for him, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him take it again. Lope Y Fernandez is an expensive colt for Aidan O’Brien. He's only raced once when easily winning his maiden at the start of the month. Short-priced favourite at the time writing it will be interesting to see if the market speaks in favour of this Lope De Vega colt tomorrow. PINATUBO looks the one who will give him most to do after two convincing wins for the Godolphin team. He was restless in the stalls and slowly away last time out but still managed to beat the Hannon horse Purple Reigns easily. As long as the rain keeps away he should have a great chance and I will be making him my selection, currently 100/30 and hoping I go out with a bang. Harpocrates is another for the O’Brien yard who had an early entry for an Ascot race back in April but didn't run. I thought he was disappointing first run, to be honest, and didn't really do much second time out either but the step up in trip could bring some improvement.

15:40 Ascot 22 Jun 2019 Hardwicke Stakes

Aaron: Masar returns to a racecourse for the first time since he won last year's Derby. So he is very much an unknown but has reportedly been working well at home. Mirage Dancer come here for Sir Michael Stoute who has a great record in this race winning two of the last three but he has a little to prove, Southern France won last years Queen’s Vase here and then third in the St Leger and wasn’t beaten too far by Stradivarius in the Yorkshire Cup last month and has every chance of retaining that form. Defoe comes here after beating Kew Gardens in the Coronation Cup at Epsom where he had a few of today’s rivals behind him including Lah Ti Dar and Salouen so he obviously has a solid chance but I will be siding with MASAR and hoping that he maintains what he showed last year at 10/3.

16:20 Ascot 22 Jun 2019 Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Sam: INVINCIBLE ARMY (No write-up he's on his jollies.

1:40 Newmarket 22 Jun 2019: Arthur's Court runs for Hugh Palmer, had a Chesham Stakes Listed entry but didn't run. Not fancied on debut and slow away I will be interested to see if any market support tomorrow. Currently 8/1 at time of writing.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
