Thursday's 2yo Thoughts (23rd August)

Update on last Friday's post, I was suicidal by 13.30 as my bet and tracker Mystic Peril came fourth and I threw my other tracker Purple Love in an each way double with Sophia's Starlight and both went down in the first at Newbury, pretty sure Purple Love is better than that, even Sophia's Starlight was a non runner in the end, absolutely shit start to the day.

Next tracker Loyal Touch won well but short enough.

I was on late shift Friday so thought sod it I'm doing my tracker Heroism from the Clive Cox team, a newcomer well regarded but had the odds on favourite to beat. I mean it's not often 2/7 shots get beat. Travelled pretty well Heroism and came on the outside cruising until John Fahy let the Invincible Spirit colt go and win the race in nice fashion, looks a nice big strong colt and can hopefully make a name for himself.

I had a few trackers in the 19.39 Newcastle, luckily for me I backed the winner, Animate, who did me last week for a few quid, so after a terrible start to the day it actually turned into a profitable one in the end.

Few trackers on Thursday so I'll take a look.

Carlisle 15.10 Thursday 25 August

A couple in this.

Karl Burke has been in fine form this season with a few nice 2yos, Dramatised winning the Queen Mary and Swingalong winning the Lowther Stakes at York. I'm hoping tracker Atomic Impact is better than his debut race at Goodwood last month, don't get me wrong it was a pretty nice race but the 20/1 shot faded to finish fifteenth. This is definitely a lot easier and hopefully the Dandy Man colt will have learned from his first race. A half-brother to the Karl Burke trained Illustrating who finished second in the Cornwallis Stakes last season. My other tracker is the William Haggas trained River Naver who ran well enough when making her debut at Newmarket this month when beaten by the impressive Burke winner Bright Diamond, another who should improve for debut run.

Chelmsford 13.00 Thursday 25 August

Looks like a tough little race. Peace Of Mine is well regarded after her debut win at Salisbury but has the win penalty to deal with. I did have So Chic last timeout when finishing third at Kempton. The tracker I'm interested in us the Tom Clover trained Expert Eye filly Crystallium who is well regarded by the trainer, the 22,000 gns yearling was down to run last week at the abandoned Kempton meeting, I'd took 5s and was gambled on into a short price favourite that day so could be worth me getting on early again, this does look a tougher race with Peace Of Mine looking to win again but hopefully Clover has Crystallium spot in here.

Ffos Las 13.43

Seems to be trackers galore here

Ancestral Land should be hard to beat after coming second in a nice race at Windsor on debut, I'd be surprised to get a price here. Syndicated and Mustajaab both met at Ascot with the latter ahead, Mustajaab could be a price here, also have Dream Frontier for Ed Dunlop who wasn't given a hard time at Nottingham on debut, looks better than that and with Crowley on board could be an each way. Tough race this.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
