14:30 Haydock - Freedom Flyer Makes Debut for Crisford's (3rd July)

It’s been a pretty quiet week with only a few 3-year-old trackers trickling through, I was pretty confident the Charlie Appleby colt State Crown would give me a run for my money after being given a few nice entries last season but could only manage third behind the nice-looking William Haggas Golden Horn colt Al Zaraqaan at Doncaster. Interested to see how State Crown comes out of that race.

This looks a tricky little Novice Stakes race and throw in the soft going and you never know what to expect. I have two trackers in this and the first is the likely favourite Arctic Vega who has his third race for trainer Andrew Balding. Arctic Vega won well on debut but never really got involved the second timeout and has a penalty to deal with here. I’m willing to take a chance with a newcomer from the Simon and Ed Crisford yard. FREEDOM FLYER is a 160,000 gns Invincible Spirit colt who was well-thought-of last season. Not the easiest place to start and I’m not sure about the soft going but hopefully, I can get an each-way price and hope he can hit the frame at least. Has been supported at the time of writing.

20:40 Chelmsford City 04 Jul 2020

Nine go to post here with many of the top yards making the journey to Chelmsford. The John Gosden filly Paradise On Earth made a promising debut at Kempton a couple of weeks ago and sure to be popular with punters but I’m going to take a chance with RIVIERA BELLE who is trained by Charlie Fellowes and owned by Mr. A.E. Oppenheimer. Dam Eastern Belle won a Listed race at Newbury for John Gosden and had an official rating of 104. The Medaglia d'Oro filly made her debut at Chelmsford a couple of weeks back and it was average at best, I hope stepping up in distance could bring out the improvement needed to get involved and finish in the top three. A speculative each-way bet for me.

A pretty nice card at Haydock and another tracker I will have a small bet on is *DECLARING LOVE by Dubawi and out of Wedding March, trained by Charlie Appleby and owned by Godolphin. I’m really interested to see how far she can go this season for the all-conquering Godolphin team. I’m looking forward to seeing her run after a promising debut at Newmarket last May, little did I know at the time that the winner of this hot contest Daahyeh would go on to win the Albany Stakes next timeout and has an official rating of a 110 for Roger Varian and the second Raffle Prize would go on to win the Queen Mary and the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket and has an official rating of 114 for Mark Johnston. I hope the long lay off isn't a problem, and she can go onto bigger and better things. A couple more trackers to note are:
