Weekly 2-Year-Old-Eye-Catchers (Monday 26th-Sunday 1st September )

EYECATCHERS:

18:15 Doncaster 20 Jul 2019:

Virgin Snow has run twice now and in my opinion, both have been promising runs. The Ed Dunlop trained Gleneagles filly has an entry for the Group two Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on the 27th September. Watching her latest race at Donny this week I would be inclined to think she needs further than a mile in time after staying on without threatening the impressive winner Run Wild. Could make nice 3-year-old and one to follow.

14:10 Carlisle 29 Aug 2019: Panic Room.

I imagine owner John Dance and trainer Tom Dascombe must have thought they had this race in the bag when Panic Room sprouted wings inside the final furlong, the only problem was the Tim Easterby trained Lampang showed an impressive turn of foot to get first run and put the race to bed. Don’t get me wrong am not sure how good this race was but the King Power owned Lampang looks a quality 2-year-old. Panic Room had to be hard ridden for most of the race until showing good speed to pick up towards the finish. May pick up an average race in the next few weeks.

15:00 Chelmsford City 29 Aug 2019:

The New Approach homebred Charlie Appleby colt State Crown took a slight drift in the betting before his debut race at Chelmsford and I think it showed. State Crown was slowly away and pushed along before finding his feet late on. William Buick gave him a nice introduction and will come on plenty for that run. The winner Surf Dancer is well-thought-of and will be running in pattern races before the season ends.

14:50 Ffos Las 29 Aug 2019:

Modmin for the Marcus Tregoning yard. He actually ran two in this race with Raatea also worth following. Anyway, Modmin took part in what looked a half-decent race. I noted the winner Good To Laugh in a post this week. The Clive Cox colt will be stepping up in class pretty soon. Modmin was slowly away and at the back until making steady progress all the way to the line. Will know more next timeout and a step up in distance will be a positive move.

14:00 Thirsk 30 Aug 2019.

Urban Hero was given a nice introduction by Danny Tudhope at Thirsk this week. The Archie Watson colt broke smartly and looked to know his job. Kept in midfield for most of the way until staying on well the final furlong. Not the best race but could pick up a small race before the season ends.

17:00 Musselburgh 27 Aug 2019:

I won't be giving up on my tracker Handlebars just yet. Clueless the first few furlongs before staying on well the closing stages. Had a Brocklesby entry earlier in the season for trainer Tim Easterby. I will give this Footstepsinthesand filly the benefit of the doubt and hope she needed this run.

20:15 Chelmsford City 31 Aug 2019:

Trumpet Man for Mark Johnston. Lovely debut and was in with a chance until bumped inside the last furlong and eased off. Well- supported from 10s to 6/1 before the race. Looks a nice type.

Thanks for reading and good luck.
