Saturday Trixie Starts with a Bang (Plus Reviews)

I was really looking forward to Saturday's racing with having quite a few trackers running, plus the introduction of the Saturday Trixie to my blog, which I will talk about in a bit.

As you will know by now I love to add Group horses to my trackers, which basically means any horse that’s been entered in anything from a class 2 race, to a Group 1 race goes into my trackers. I have my own way of doing this or another way is to just follow Group Horse and Jason does all the hard work for you.

Reviews:

Before I get ahead of myself I had a tracker running on Friday that I mentioned on my twitter page, the horse in question was Sparkle Roll for the John Gosden stable who had a Group 1 entry as a two-year-old. I was in two minds whether to bet but bit the bullet and had few quid win at 2/1. It was a funny old race with the Haggas trained Sea of Faith well-supported before the off but totally fluffing the start. Sparkle Roll took it up two furlongs out and stayed on to win by 2-lengths with Sea of Faith making eye-catching progress at the finish. Sparkle Roll has an entry in the Epsom oaks now and I think she needs to settle a bit better to stand any chance.

With a few quid in my pocket after Friday's nice winner, I decided to do a each way lucky 15 on three of my three-year-old Group entry trackers and one I was looking out for. First up was another Gosden horse, Make My Day a 5/1 shot who ran a promising debut considering the rain and the wind at Haydock racecourse, even though he finished a never nearer second to the impressive winner Severance, I can see him coming on plenty for that.

Thanks Be was my next one and I took 25/1 early doors and I actual got excited thinking she was going to win after a battle to the line with the Godolphin newcomer Search For Light (Seem to be getting done by a few Godolphin horses lately) I know I will get a rule 4 after Flighty Almighty was withdrawn but it was a great effort, I felt I was stretching my own neck trying to get her over the line in first place at one stage.

Next up was Sky Cross which to be honest less said the better and in hindsight I think the distance was too far and I should have left him alone today.

The last one was Lyndon B who ran a great race at 10/1 to finishing second to another bloody Godolphin horse but overall a profit on my lucky so I will take that.

The Saturday Trixie Review: The first Trixie of the year started with a bang when Aaron picked the 15/8 easy winner Black Corton who won by 11-lengths, I actually got 11/4 which was a bonus. It was a great day for Aaron as he was at Sandown to watch him romp home and to make it an even sweeter day he watched Getaway Trump (Pictured) who he has a share in, win the first race on the card. Next up was Black Op for Sam who disappointed to finish fourth and then my flop Sky Cross also disappointed.

Well done to Aaron who goes for the double next Saturday so watch this space.

Thanks for reading.
